2girlsnocup: Hunting for sport would be hunting just for the sake of it. Not to eat the meat or anything like that. Just because they want to go out and prove their manliness by killing something.

Hunting for sport is pointless, and shouldn't be allowed.

That's not hunting for sport, it's senseless killing, two completely different things.

Ccincy: Kid don't start on me.You're not dealing with an idiot.I come from a long line of hunters from way back to the 16 through the 1700's.
I know all about the hunting for survival, subsistence etc stuff. My parents hunted cause they enjoyed being out in the woods had 6 of us kids to feed.

Game people hunt verses buying from butcher shops store bought is better for you.

Not starting on you at all, just asking a valid question, seeing as lot of people have a misconception about hunting in general.

I have to disagree about store bought being better for you though.

Hunting for sport is senseless killing. I thought I explained it easily enough. Apparently not.

How is killing something entertaining? Only a psychopath would believe hunting is something to be done for fun.

Sports:
an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment:
team sports such as soccer and rugby
[MASS NOUN]: I used to play a lot of sport
(as modifier sports) a sports centre

misbhavn: If you eat road kill, yes that's gross!

People like you make people like me, afraid to take people up on invitations to their homes for a cooked meal. You never know what you're going to get served to you!

I guess some could certainly look at eating road kill as gross. However, bumper banquets are allowed, even promoted, by laws in numerous States today. Some State highway patrol people alert food banks of available (fresh) road kills.

Hunting is the practice of pursuing any living organism, usually wildlife or feral animals, by humans for food, recreation, or trade. Animals may also hunt other animal species, but this is usually called predation. ...

I guess there are different definitions, depending on you personal view to hunting in general.

Hunting for sport?

Isn't that for people who enjoy killing?

As a species, I think we almost stand alone in that pursuit.

I think a cat does it for sport and or amusement sometimes. Maybe the killing just happens as an afterpaw.... oops. laugh

misbhavn: Im sorry, I meant as a sport.

I don't hunt much any more. I has it's purposes.

I think if it were banned as a sport, I could live with that.

Keep in mind that occasionally there is an over population of a species here and there, disease afflictions, and other hunting might be required to thin them out. If they can't be used for food, fertilizers, or what ever; trophy hunting would be a possibility. It's a side note that may need allowances made.

If I could find another way to get that deer out of it's coat and into the freezer, and later on to my plate, I would. I don't enjoy the kill, but it is a part of it.
