Obstinance_Works: Perhaps you only perceive men as being more bitter than women because society is much more tolerant of a moaning woman? That it is so ever-present that it becomes unnoticed, like breathing.
I've noticed that European women are much more docile during the PMS trip, than American women. Is it because of societies influence on them ?...but European men are much more "old farty " than American men. Same reason ?

Hi Lostabone. I don't know if you can generalise. Ive come across alot of grouchy old women as well as men. I think it's the luck of the draw but yep, Ive noticed, men do seem to get cranky/grouchy. We women, on the other hand, stop wanting to be 'nice' and become genuine, and mellow.

European culture is not as egotistical and gluttonous and so European women will have a greater sense of self-restraint(which is reflected in their more slender waistlines). We also have a weaker sense of entitlement which I expect contributes further to self-restraint. Self-restraint will help her keep a lid on PMS.
And it's also probable that that PMS is stronger amongst American women because American men are the most effete and sycophantic towards women and they allow them the run of the place in a way that no other group of men, past or present, would do. Traditional masculinity and strength is an even older part of history in America than it is in Europe. 2030 Europe will be as manginafied as 2010 America, and god knows what you'll be by then, bankrupt I should expect.

I don't have the answer, but it cannot be hormonal because as women get old, the estrogen decreases and hormonally speaking, they become more like men, sans the excess testosterone.
I think as people get old they become more tolerant and also a little more bitter only because they realize what all the b.s. is about.

I have to agree with goldengloss on these two statements. We all have differents characteristics and demeanor's that are unique to ourselves. I don't think we categorize anybody into being either sweet or grumpy. Just as an example, I was always very assertive in my actions be it in my personal life or at work. I was often considered being a grump although I did not think I was portraying that.Took me a long time but as I started getting older I started realizing that. Now I find that if I communicate with people(in any situation)with a smile or suggestion or even a joke,people find me a much better person to be around. So it has a lot to do with life experiences and lessons learned. Totally unique to evryone of us.
