Jaymack: Yea your right Reb,and they are loosing badly so far.
Israel has done more harm to themselves than Palestine/Gaza.

This isn't going to go away,Israel have scored a major own goal, which is going to cost them.

I don't think a nation's Government has been so despised since 1939-1945,that says something in itself.

Pat Johnson: ‘Pro-Palestinian’ activists are making things worse for the people they claim to support

Can we get some clarity around the term “pro-Palestinian”?

After years of attending “pro-Palestinian” events in Canada and covering them for the media (admittedly including unapologetically pro-Israel media), I am convinced that most of those who self-define as pro-Palestinian are not making things better for Palestinians. They are making things worse.

The fate of Palestinians right now is a major global concern, judging by social media activity, outrage at the UN, protests over the weekend in cities across Canada, and a rally in Paris that ended in an attack on a synagogue by a mob shouting “Death to the Jews.” Yet, for all their chanting and occasional terrorizing of Jews, “pro-Palestinians” rarely do anything that helps actual Palestinians.

They don’t raise much money for Palestinian aid. (In fairness, they don’t need to; Palestinians receive, by most accounts, more foreign aid per capita than any people on the planet, yet still the dystopic mess.) They do not volunteer for or fund organizations that might create the infrastructures of a civil society in an eventually independent Palestine. They have done nothing to encourage democratic development there. They do not advocate for academic freedom, promote economic growth or demand equality for women and minorities in Palestine. They are slacktivists who, as far as I can see, serve only as apologists for the tyrants and killers who lead Fatah and Hamas.

They absurdly accuse Israel of apartheid, while making common cause with a Palestinian Authority whose “moderate” leader Mahmoud Abbas repeatedly promises that an independent Palestine will be totally Jew-free. This implies a bigger problem: that elements in Canada — trade unions, liberal churches, campus groups, academics — have been poisoned by association with a “pro-Palestinian” movement that is not at all the progressive cause it’s prettied up as for domestic consumption.

Even the group Queers Against Israeli Apartheid does not help LGBTQ Palestinians, instead seeking to harm them further. The group’s sole raison d’être seems to be to destroy Israel, the only sanctuary in the region for Arabs who want to live a gay life openly, safely and legally.

For decades, “pro-Palestinian” activists have helped ensure that the lives of Palestinians remain mired in violence, poverty, oppression and hopelessness. Had overseas “friends” encouraged Palestinian leaders to stop inciting their people to blow themselves up and instead to accept any of the countless proposals put on the table by Israel, the United States, the Quartet, Arab states and others, going back to the UN in 1947, there would be peace and a Palestinian state now. If worldwide activists demanded it, that state of Palestine might even be a democracy. At the very least, they could demand an end to the kleptocracy that impoverishes and oppresses Palestinians, but they won’t even do that.

“Pro-Palestinian” activists are a fanatical, uncritical worldwide cheering section that goads Palestinians to seek nothing less than the complete eradication of Israel. They do not demand of Palestinians nor demonstrate themselves (as we saw in the brawl at Palestine House in Mississauga, Ont., this month) the moderation, compromise, tolerance or coexistence required for peace.

Instead, they promote “resistance” — an absolutist, unyielding, hate-fired dogma that only prolongs the conflict.

If there is such a thing as a genuine pro-Palestinian activist, I don’t think I’ve met one yet, despite spending most of my career in places where I might reasonably expect to find them. At the dozens of “pro-Palestinian” meetings and rallies I have attended, whenever a hat has been passed to raise money, it has not been to fund anything of value to Palestinians. It’s usually to facilitate yet more junkets by grandstanding Canadian tragedy tourists to embark on useless and sometimes fatal efforts like the 2010 flotilla to Gaza. The only value these publicity stunts seem to have is producing PowerPoint extravaganzas affirming that, yep, things are pretty bad over there. The apparent objective is not alleviating the problems, but crowdfunding more trips to conflict zones for thrill-seeking Israel-haters.

But now, as the death toll rises daily in the current conflict, “pro-Palestinian” activists show their real humanity. They revel in the number of dead Palestinians vs. dead Israelis. Their macabre accounting does not suggest, as they seem to imagine, anything close to reverence for human life. It is a World Cup of martyrdom in which the side with the most dead wins.

Differences in military technology account for some disparities in the tragic numbers. But the variances in death tolls are mostly because, as an Israeli military spokesperson noted last week, Israel “uses its weapons to defend its civilians. Hamas uses its civilians to defend its weapons.”

Hamas puts its own civilians in harm’s way, confident that when the inevitable happens, the useful idiots of the “pro-Palestinian” movement will tally the dead and declare moral victory, perpetuating the narrative of Israel as a demonic oppressor and the Palestinians as saintly victims.

For behaving exactly as Hamas knew they would, rewarding the use of human shields instead of condemning it for the barbarity it is, activists in Canada and elsewhere bear some of the blame for these deaths. There are terms for people like that, but pro-Palestinian doesn’t seem like the right one.

chris27292729: The main supporter of Israel is, the USA and Europe follows,as well almost all the American countries side with the USA on this.If USA does a turn and stop supporting Israel (Europe+most American countries will do the same). Then Israel naturally, seen has been abandon by all its friends, would be forced to a solution for a lasting peace.

This support is dwindling, all are now suspicious of Israel especially in Europe.

It's seems to be in the USA interest to have Israel as a Friend presently, other's of notoriety where once also friends of the U.S.A.,they are now long gone (Stiffed laugh)thumbs up

Blockade? Wrong word for the limitations that Israel places on the free flow of goods

“No ceasefire until Gaza siege is lifted,” media outlets around the world announced this week, citing Hamas’s chief demand in its war with Israel. This often-recited demand has been so important to Gaza for so long that some believe Hamas started the current war with Israel primarily to force an end to the blockade.

The “siege” and the “blockade” — also called an “occupation” — cannot be understood without torturing the vocabulary.

Occupation? Israel voluntarily left the Gaza Strip in 2005, its soldiers uprooting every last Jew as they handed the Palestinians the keys to the territory, no strings attached. Israel even left behind its 3,000 lucrative greenhouses, bought by Jewish philanthropists as a gift for the people of Gaza in the hope Gaza would become a “Singapore on the Mediterranean,” so successful that it would have a stake in peace and accommodate itself to having Israel as a neighbour. In any sane sense of the word, there was no longer any “occupation” — no Israeli settlers, no Israeli soldiers, no Jews of any description remained.

Siege? The claim that Gaza is under siege from Israel is also a stretch. Historically, attackers who laid siege to cities would poison their water and prevent any supplies from entering, with the intent of starving the inhabitants into submission. Israel, in contrast, supplies Gaza with its electricity, with its gas and with its water as well as trucking in food and medical supplies. During the current war, when a stray Hamas missile knocked out power lines from Israel that supplied Gazans with electricity, Israeli repair crews donned protective gear and restored power to Gazans while Hamas rockets soared overhead. Likewise, despite the rockets, Israel is continuing to take in Gazans to provide them with medical care in Israeli hospitals, just as it has prior to the current war — Israel has even provided medical care to close relatives of Hamas terrorists.

Blockade? Wrong word for the limitations that Israel places on the free flow of goods. Not only does Israel permit numerous imports into Gaza (witness the hundreds of thousands of tons of cement now known to have been used to construct tunnels), Israel also allows Gaza to export its goods freely, including to the enormous EU market where Gaza has duty-free status. But with two exceptions: The two exceptions are exports to Israel and exports to the West Bank, to prevent the surreptitious entry of bombs, weapons and other materiel that could cause Israel grief.

Don't bet on it.Usa will abandon Israel, only if abandon their interest in the Middle East. And this doesn't look likely to me in the forseeable future.-

Neither is Israel alone in limiting Hamas’s freedom to act as it will. In 2007, Hamas seized Gaza from the Palestinian Authority in a violent coup, leading the Palestinian Authority — the sole official representative of the Palestinians — to prevent Gazans from travelling by denying them passports. Egypt, too, sealed its border crossing with Gaza and largely kept it sealed to prevent terrorism from spilling into Egypt. Hamas is today the darling of jihadists and the European left but a pariah to Egypt, the Palestinian Authority, and the Arab League as well as to Israel. Its pariah status among moderate Arabs stems solely from its religiously motivated desire to terrorize its neighbours rather than to develop its economy. This terror-orientation is the sole reason that curbs are placed on Gazans.
