stanley8m: I do like to let the hair down on occasion. But, would people frown at a fat person munching into another French Fry, in the same way they disapprove of someone having a few drinks? Would it be wrong to say, "hey fatty, go easy on the burgers."

Two people leave a restaurant at the same you and your family leave.

One of those persons has just had fries and a burger.

The other person has had several drinks.

Which of those two people would you prefer have driving next to you and your family?

Well said Kaybee wave

Nothing wrong with enjoying a social drink or two, but when you infringe on others' enjoyment or safety, then yeah, a frown is the least that should be expected.

In my humble opinion, the two cannot be compared.

pedro27: i enjoy the effect of drink, now and again..no harm done
I have always believed that if alcohol causes a social change in a person, i.e. becoming belligerent, argumentative, pugilistic, then that person should not consume alcohol. However, if a person can drink alcohol, and not change his or her good nature*, then alcohol in and of itself is not a problem.

*People who are not good natured should not drink.

I agree with this, not because both are not potentially harmful, but the chemical change in the consumption of alcohol is immediate, and therefore, for that moment, more dangerous if the drinking person is driving or performing any other task requiring expertise and concentration.

Kaybee50: Tis your choice....

Go ahead and sit next to the booze swillin' vomiting-in-your-lap man, and miss out on my breasts brushing against your face every time I get up to go powder my nose.

Why, thank you Ma'am for that titillating image, and I readily concede that the custom of munching on burgers can have positive side effects. innocent

I have this mental image of you drunk and eating oven fries, frozen, right outta the bag until you throw up all over yourself. I do like a drink, but you are not a good endorsement for alcohol.

justjim63: I agree, in moderation and with common sense there's nothing wrong with a drink or two, it's like with most things, excessive use causes the problems.

An idea for a new 'DrinkAware' campaign is footage of you, Pedro, blind drunk trying to remember your own name and birthday.
