I think going back to Dalai Lamas statement should be the root to solving this dilemma. We must see and practice peace, only then can our religion dictates unity as humanity needs it.

Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.

lindsyjones: Somehow the strain of not being able to tap and use 100 percent of our given brain Tom

Perhaps our inability to contain or attempt to use all of it is the answer.

We're not really intelligent yet, only few, like Einstein, Newton and very few. When we can tap that perhaps it would be the time?

Nope,...just ask those you mentioned how ABSOLUTELY PUNITIVE the religions of their day were,....Galileo, Newton, Cpoernicus....religion, ESPECIALLY the Roman Catholic Church,...is retrograde and should be punished for many of their stances,....

lindsyjones: It's amazing how religion represents most our values, beliefs and traditions, and to most it's a way of life. We live in our religion and religion lives within us.
(Atheist excluded)

QUESTION: Can we become more united because of religion? Or are we more divided?

Why?

We should watch closely how the pope unites the heavyweight Democrats and Republicans when he releases his New Encyclical to shed holy-light on Climate Change later this month.

Seriously, I'm curious how Republican views on this will be affected by the Pope. I believe, on our Supreme Court are 6 Catholics and 3 Jews. The senate has 25 Catholics; 9 are Republicans. The House has approximately 130 (out of 430) Catholics who are Repulicans.

Religion is barbaric. We can all get together, bring that energy together. PEACE, Joy, Abundance, Love, Honesty, Sincerity, Kindness, Sense of humor, prosperity, All that God is, Love, Beauty. Joy. All of this ie: " if you are here, you are saved, If you are over here. You are not"
Lets act on our intelligence, history, education. Religion is to help you to live life. Please lets all realize. No separation. Non denominational. We have to all be in this together as one. Is there any one else, who knows this. I knew by the age of three, I knew this. I knew God. I did not have one question. I just knew.. PEACE HH

I don't know. His credibility here today has to be better than what it was when President Lincoln tried to recruit Giuseppe Garibaldi to head the Northern military during our civil war.

tomcatwarne: Off course there is something we don't understand, science will reveal all in the end.

I'd disagree on the science part. What progress has it really brought us to this point? We are simply more efficient at killing people and the planet now.

Well a lot of people believe in Religion, However to my upbringing I come to find out that Religion is man made and Christianity is God made.

Tom a most legitimate question and one of the most avoided to be considered.
I believe if no one can grasp the end of the universe, meaning there's so much there left unknown with our limited mind, and yet we can establish that there's billion more of galaxies out there, why don't we consider thinking that there's truly God, who's all knowing and conceived the use of that space? Meaning our short insignificant life iz but just a leaf of our pages to live more in other dimension?

Indeed. A result of our labor and perceptions. Life iz how we make it. Therefore it's a choice to be peaceful, it's a desire to be united and it a deliberate effort to be loved and love everyone.

I was hoping you wouldn't say that. Given the enormous progression of man and our concept of civility, these people today who can harness their intelligence for enlightenment and development, I was relying on the effort that we do want to be at peace with one another sans ego and arrogance.
