Uniqueness is a fairly modern invention, and not really valid for people. if a discussion was based of what people had to think of right on the spot, they'd all be mostly of the time average - normal, boring, and straightforward - and i would say average is actually pretty good.

... it's been a while Simply put, i think the perception of average body types is of 3 mentalities really.
The first one is where the person doesn't want to sound like they're being boastful in describing themselves as beautiful or wonderful etc.
The second is where they may be overweight or other, but try to boost their self esteem a little by describing themselves as "average"
The third type is where they're comparing themselves to Models, Actors and celebrities and feel they don't quite measure up to them in a critical way ?

Being 'average' is the worst mistake in anyone's life...
The worst part of being average is to find someone who is happy for you...
The penalty of being average is to be bored by the people that used to snub as being average...what spoils a party for average people? a critic of average people...what can easily depress an average person? A long and dull life with nothing outstanding. They were perfectly understood to be average; of no consequence. That would make a great epitaph.
Final thought/ observation: Average is not the soul of lingerie...

You have good thoughts behind your post above.
But surely there is a grey area between saying you are wonderful, and average.
it may be down to a self-esteem issue alright. But if you put 'average' height or weight on a dating site and you actually get to meet the other person, then they are going to be disappointed/mistrustful if you turn out to be short or overweight.
As for comparing ourselves against models and actors, then we would probably all have to put obese in if those stick-insects are considered normal!

But as I said, on a dating site such as this, does giving an option of 'average' even mean anything, as average differs according to perception.
