epirb: I assume you are up with the news on it , they had him contained nothing more than execution . I find your clapping at police for killing somebody on post 108 offensive . Blacks have family's just like police officers , one of those family's were there right next to their man while those rotten killers shot him . I don't doubt that those officers will never go to jail for murder , others will pay for their crime , already have .Share and share alike .

Well you are "finding" incorrectly that I was clapping that police killed somebody. The clapping was that Allthegoodnames and I had an understanding. Maybe you should go back and read the few posts that ATGN and I had before post 108.

I completely agree that the blacks have families. If you are watching the news you will see that blacks are in mourning for the officers that were ambushed.

Blacks don't want this violence.

It's obvious that y hate America, police, and anybody that doesn't think like you do.

Rubbish , what I see in you on this thread and others covering police butchery is nothing more than an apologist for police barbarity . I watch the news alright , I take note every time a black police spokesman is wheeled out to placate a segment of the population . Its a simple thing , police need to stop murdering both blacks and whites . Its a pity you cannot see that .

crayons: uh... replace the word trump with obama the word grand gizzard with muslim brotherhood and far right republicans with left wing marxists and your statement would be correct...just a fairy tale the way its presented now.

That is typical of indoctrinated US Republican thinking expressed here in the UK and all Non Conservative opposition is Communist inspired, when nothing is further from the truth.

Len05: two wrongs don't make a right.

but most images i see from the US black community on tv, they don't make me feel equal.

there is a huge split in that country

Horrific and very sad, but not unexpected.

Have been reading about this and acc to the Guardian Black people were 9 times more likely to be killed by police officers than other Americans in 2015. That's pretty damning.

Agree with other posters re gun control. Something needs to be done and even if it takes generations it's a cause worth fighting imo.
Guns don't kill people doh
Kinda hard to strangle someone by accident.

or could be just as many get killed heading home to celebrate religious festivals like in:

Nearly 18 people have died during a massive three-day traffic jam stretching for more than 21 km in Indonesia.

Commuters travelling between Jakarta and the city of Tegal faced the challenging traffic situation at a major highway junction in Brebes, a city on the main island of Java. The roads were choked as people were going to their hometowns to celebrate the religious holiday of Eid.

Indonesian President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo blamed the bad infrastructure of the toll roads for the incident. He said that the vehicles are supposed to wait in a queue to pay the toll and traffic jams at toll gates were not unexpected.

Jokowi hoped that measures would be taken to reduce the problem within two years.

allthegoodnamest: Maybe so, but the white people doing the killings are criminals, whereas the police are there to police..

You're not thinking it through mate. Of course innocent white people get shot by the police.

TheRedSquirrel87: Judging each case on its individual merits you'd have to side with BLM and the Black community over this officer putting 4 rounds into a guy who seemingly hadn't done all that much wrong. Unless you're a moron or a monster.

But that's not the point. BLM will be right some of the time, there will always be cases which perfectly example everything they say, but it's what normally happens which you set your policy and attitude around. The police certainly set their attitude around what normally happens and the exceptions don't disprove the rule. Anyone living in the real world generalises and goes off their assumptions, especially in the moment, and doing so is less wrong than not doing so - those who don't do so tend to do nothing or the wrong thing. It's geeky, safe-world bias to think that you can afford to wait for all the facts before acting - that's for the courtroom, not the street.

Anyway, BLM will be correct upwards of 10% of the time and still remain a largely baseless movement making the problem worse.

And if you're not the stereotype of your particular group you will always be more likely to come a cropper of the assumptions people make.

However, most people are the stereotype and have no idea to what extent they are these. Both times I was arrested by the police I was(wrongly)assumed guilty because of my social class and age at the time. And although this bothered me I'm not so much of a special snowflake that I can't understand why the police did assume me guilty. Many people who looked like I did at 15 actually were stealing lead off the roof or menacing an old codger.

In other words there's no smoke without fire. Anyone streetwise, cop, criminal or savvy kid, assumes there's no smoke without fire.

Now fortunately a thousand years of the English judicial system does boil down to more than no smoke without fire - but real life isn't a courtroom!

That's essentially the point. You can make the politically incorrect assumption of no smoke without fire or the politically correct assumption of where there is smoke there is no fire and also nothing to fear.

Two things could happen from here. Either you disarm the public - which would take many, many years before this even limits the black market - meaning that each error doesn't lead to such disastrous consequences or you can improve the recruitment criteria of the police officer. If the individual is braver and brighter he'll be less likely to over or under-react and more likely to make the correct assumption in the correct manner.

Making the police more intelligent would imo involve closing down many of useless universities and pushing the semi-intelligent who want to be a journalist into the role of police officer. There's a common theme in the west of people being genetically beneath their station in life. All of this pseudo-intelligence with a degree in journalism and a job in retail should replace the sub-par police. The police need to have the minimum level of their intelligence raised.

I know him from where I grew up that there is a distinct problem in getting the working class with a bit of a brain to wanna join the police when the streetwise with some IQ are the best weapon against crime. The police in the modern day are either people who didn't grow up streetwise, and if they did, they're one of the stupid streetwise. How to get earthy people with a brain also to wanna join the force? Stop inventing nonsense careers and credentials for them to waste their time on and instead guide them through realistic aims and earnest appraisals.
