This for people who actually meditate on a regular basis. I've started to learn how to meditate and well something "weird" happened. What I would like to know is it normal for someone to fall asleep 10 minutes after meditating?

That's not weird. That's quite normal.

Many people fall asleep during through actual meditation, although it's better if you don't. But it happens regularly.

In some Asian monasteries the master will hit you on the back of the neck with a broad board if he thinks you are falling asleep while meditating.

I guess this comes with deep relaxation but I tend to agree with others that it's not a desired outcome laugh

I attended a meditation class when I was pregnant with my first child and as I was drifting off I heard the instructor say that falling asleep wasn't what we were looking for #you're doing it wrong rolling on the floor laughing

Ever since however, I have used that technique to fall asleep when my mind is restless which has been invaluable to me for 40 years now wine

Meditating can have it's ups & downs..
Prime examples, good if you have anxiety & find it hard to relax or sleep , bad if you're with a hot chick & you fall asleep on the job!

I guess it depends on the type of meditation, but it's usually due to being overtired, bad posture or a combination of both. Keeping your eyes slightly open, just enough to allow a little light in helps to stay focused, and sitting with a straight, preferably unsupported back discourages sleep.
