In a sense we are to blame. Islam is a long civil war and the main reason for that is because white people invented modernity and only half of Islam wants to know.

I applaud efforts for peace.

My question is:
Why would Putin want to stop the war in Syria now?
(he had 4+ years for it sigh )

Putin: Time is right for Syrian ceasefire
During a press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Russian President Vladimir Putin said he is in favor of a nationwide ceasefire in Syria and for additional peace talks.Source: CNN

Peace is only created when it costs less than, or earns more than, war.

Consolidate Assads regime ?
He will have a better relationship with Iran and Syria if the fighting stops now, imo.
Hopefully the ceasefire will work, and people will start to work together to rebuild Syria.

I have covered so much of this topic in the past Aragon, only to be brought to so much pros and cons and as to who is to blame, etc. etc. The fact of the matter is, like you presented, people get displaced, get to experience a most cruel and difficult life, and worst, get killed, tortured even, and yes the world should be ashamed of what we have done and all in the name of greed and power.

Question is? What can we do to stop it?

Nothing to say about the atrocities committed to the people of Aleppo & others in Syria, by US backed, financed, and supported rebels in Syria there Pat ?

If countries, under the guise of their Gov's are going to interfere and cause this amount of harm and suffering, those countries will create enemies.

I dont buy into conspiracy theories like that. It would be much worse without other countries intervening. I dont make any choices or actions impacting them, and yet some will defend their despicable actions and the risk I face is somehow my own doing? Meh, gas them all.
