How boring would a person be, if he/she didn't carry some sort of baggage from previous relationships.
I expect most of us carry some sort of baggage but it can be used to a positive effect, as a learning curb, which can benefit future partners. In other words, learn by your mistakes.
What's your opinion? wave

I like my baggage to match, looks nice on the trolley and easy to find when coming round the carousel....

Seriously we all have baggage...it's just about how we pack it away after the holiday and whether we decide to unpack or leave it where it is.....
I've learnt not to take as much with me anymore as I always end up coming home with an extra case lol

pedro27: my baggage is a split soul

Understandable.

There's a school of thought that suggests that the onset of some mental disorders, such as schizophrenia, finds the sufferer unable to move beyond their first psychotic episode conversing

It's like their lives went on hold and their history then is only what occurred prior.

For instance, a 35 year old may only recall, celebrate and enjoy reminiscing about their life prior to their first episode at 21 years of age.

So they continue on with life as a mature adult, side-by-side with the young person who never got the opportunity to fully blossom and reach their potential.

I meant to add that in terms of this, some try therapy that returns them to those younger days, in an attempt to 'wipe the slate clean' so to speak conversing

Hope I'm not hijacking this thread, baggage means different things to different people wine

Does having young children limit the choices regarding potential partners, considering they are a major part of your life?

I think it's much more simpler than that.. People who find it hard communicating & expressing there inner feelings & thoughts, end up frustrated, which causes a chemical reaction in the brain, thus leading to mental illnesses.

So many schools of thought on this, it's an incredibly complex issue conversing

Hopefully in the not too far distant future there will be a breakthrough and sufferers will get some relief sigh

In the meantime, education, support and understanding from our communities is key to at least assist them in their difficult journeys.

Personally it hasn't been a problem for me...I tend to connect with guys who either like children , or have some themselves so they understand. I'm quite level headed when it comes to choosing a partner and if I think that a family life wouldn't be for the guy then I keep them at arms length. I don't need any unnecessary pain by choosing someone that could complicate my life further. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying its always easy, but this is my world and I'm willing to share it, but I expect someone to join in and not try to change it as my children were there first lol!

A bit of baggage is fine, to be expected. Something time consuming or ongoing, I'm not so sure.

The problem is, kids see you only as a mother & not a woman with needs.
Sometimes it's less complicated just to put your own life on hold, for the sake of the children.

I don't think your alone in your thoughts there pat...many men and women think the same....someone else's children are a lot harder than your own to deal with... I've liked older guys and they have been there done that scenario, and I've understood, no point in me pursuing something that won't work...I'll be a mum forever, my freedom is a little way off yet...it's just about finding the right puzzle piece....
