sergio09: I am aware that there are those that feel they are the final authority on all matters. I respect that! However, when a person makes a statement or comment to a thread, even if you don't like it, do they care? Stating an opinion, is simply that, stating an opinion. Not trying to change anyone's mind, but willing to read your opinion. Then we move on.
The purpose of the threads is to help people learn about possible relationships. They help people get to know the real people and what is inside them. To argue over differences does nothing. Name calling and insults are juvenile.
IF I were looking for a relationship, I would want to know what their political and religious views are. I would want to know their strengths and weaknesses, But would not try to change the way they think. That is childish.
Can't we just respect that others disagree with us and accept that then move on?
Just curious how you folks think about this....
Easy answer, if it blows up, don't feed the trolls.
To reply is to look at the question asked by the threader.
It can sway alot as some times Threaders are very well known to have "comment back people" (I have been in past a "Threader" but was never any good
Maybe I need more friends
I do not see a thread on this site to be engineered to help people to learn about relationships. I can see on this site "Forum" as a fun cool banter and slips into serious talk. Which I like.
If it gets deep, cool! if not still cool.

pat8lanips: Its just the nature of it. It sounds like you're trying to change people who hurl childish insults etc.
Maybe childish insults and being the ultimate authority on everything, is simply their opinion which is equal to anybody elses opinion in a fair world.
Thats the main problem with these do-as-I-say-but-not-what-I-do threads.
Sound objective. I respect that everybody is entitled to an informed opinion but not entitled to be ignorant and make assumptions of the fact.. .

I wouldnt totally agree. For example, people seem to think wild animals are hell bent on killing as many people as possible, that sharks are just mindless killing machines etc.
They see this all the time on TV and in the newspaper, because it sells. The general public has a distorted view that driving to the beach is safer than the chance of being eaten by a shark, despite falling coconuts being resposible for more deaths than sharks.
Somebody informed from a different source, would be able to explain how apex predators are very important and a sign of a healthy ecosystem, and actually not as dangerous as you might think. I've paid to go out on a boat, past the baited shark drumlines, to scuba dive with sharks. They didnt bite me, but yeah I cut a few washers.

They're both informed opinions.
Agree with you! Excellent example.! Without research, without background, without understanding, personal opinion It's just like a fart in a wind ...
Sharks love to be petted -They're like dogs .... but I still don't trust them

I want a personal record of just how right I've been over the years. I'm not her to convince anyone, favouritism will decide that. If CS was a country it would not be a democracy and it would not debate - it would rule by a punch in the face.

But conversing on the forums is an open choice.
I like it.
I so totally agree. I love the conversations, but refuse to debate. On some sites, debates become arguments. Then others on the site choose sides and becomes ugly. I love the banter, but not the hostilities. There are those whom I believe they see themselves as kings or queens of the forums. I ignore them to avoid confrontation. I just want to be happy and have a good time in the forums. The only way to really know a person with whom you might be spending a lot of time with, is to find out what they are all about. So why spend time with people who only response is to attack every word you say? That's my story, and I am sticking to it.
