Being a perfectionist involves a great responsibility. It must be right, or you loose your job, or you get demoted. In your private life the perfectionism shines through too, if you are a real perfectionist. It is right or wrong, no grey areas.

Thanks Pedro. Some people believe that by breaking others down, it makes them better. How wrong can they be?

But ... what if they do it perfectly?

Here is my point why perfectionism is destructive.
Striving for perfectionism interferes and can tear down a relationship.

Life is not composed of dichotomies: black/white, yes/no, right/wrong, fat/thin, tall/short, ugly/beautiful.

There are no clear and defined parameters of where it suddenly turns into another.
Only the person deciding (the Judge) can determine the ruling and it is completely unfair to the other parties.

"Honey, does this dress make me look 'fat'?"
It is a trap for the man. He has no idea where thin becomes fat.

"He is so tall!"
Where does the line between short become tall? It is arbitrary.
One person believes the subject to be tall while the other does not.
An argument ensues.
One person has divided into a dichotomy and the other is using positive classification - "He's shorter than my uncle, he's shorter than my friend, I've seen tons of people taller than him, but he's taller than my partner...."

The following thread titles require a reader to make a decision based upon a dichotomy.
The catch is - it is a "False Dichotomy". It states that no "either/or" solutions or answers or options exist.
So, if the reader says something in between, the OP has the grounds to argue ad nauseum.
Such questions do not build relationships. They only tear them apart due to one person being the Judge and the other person's inability to understand the arbitrary parameters.
These questions only serve to create a point of contention.

Do you want everything or do you want the option to choose?
Self Confidence as opposed to No Confidence!
Does an irrational person irritate you, or do you have unending patience?
Are you a Handyman or Not?
IQ & the Gift of the Gab - Can you see the connection?
Name Calling - Good or Bad
Negativity - Do we need it?
Do you prefer to know where you stand with someone?
Strong / Weak - How do you handle Life?
RULES - Do you obey them all?
Trust - does it increase / decrease with Time?
Illusions never fail...

Perfectionism is a false ideal as it is never truly attainable because it denies a person's potential for improvement.
Life is not perfect as it is full of lovely shades in between.

Kaylana, You are lost, when it comes to perfectionism, give it up!!!!

This is a contradiction. Proof must be given when making claims. Otherwise, it is an invalid point and is ignored.

You should learn how to debate correctly - because- you make claims that are not supported as seen above.

(That is an example for you to follow, in case you couldn’t understand its purpose.)
