I lucked out with a good stepdad.. Miss him..

My Dad passed away 18 years ago now, from Leukemia, and I still have passing thoughts of him nearly everyday. Growing up he was a very strict parent, but I love him to pieces.. I could talk to him about anything.. hmm except politics LOL I still speak with him in my mind.. though he never answers.

My dad passed away may the 7th 2018.
One of his funniest stories was how he and a colleague were walking during the pause and they passed a pub where one of his other colleagues was sitting. So they sat with him and had a couple of beers, and three hours later my father said: Well, it's time to go back to work.
Th colleague that already sat there when my father passed him in the beginning said: Oh, weren't you free like me?
My father made up a good excuse for his boss and wasn't fired.

My condolences on your dad's passing packers
My dad's in the latter stage of dementia, he hasn't know who I am for almost 2 years now. But he's always so happy to see me, even if I just walked thru the living room 5 minutes ago
He still comes outside sometimes when I'm grilling and we'll share a beer.
And occasionally he has a moment of clarity, he'll kiss my hand and say thank you

I was closer to my father's brother, my uncle. He had no children on his own and treated me as his child. They both are dead now.

Personally, I've never met my biological father but I have spoken to him on the phone a few times and I'm almost 50 years old. I too, am lucky to have a great stepdad, whom I don't consider him to be a stepdad, he is my dad and has been my since I was 2. He is a good man. His health is not very good at the time and I am praying for the best.

I met my real dad one time when I was 14.. I wasn't too impressed.. I hope all goes well with your dad..I know you that it must be hard.
