I keep my settings tight, and if the occasional one slips through, I know by their first email so don't engage with them.
The site does have responsibility to block them, but so do we.

How come this platform is so riddled with fake profiles? The main reason for fake profiles is so that shady operators can engineer themselves into other peoples lives, and scam them out of money. Fake profiles are a reality of all social media, including FB.
Recently Facebook announced it had deleted 4.5 BILLION fake profiles in 2019. Try to get your head around that....
Fake profiles seem so easy to spot, that it should be elementary to have some sort of screening going on.
So why don't the owners and admins of this site do something about it?
That's my question. Any opinions on that?
