Dedovix: Well see, there is an agenda going on that the world is overpopulated ,not enough food ,various illnesses .like the latest Corona ... i mean its very financially profitable to spread fear , but that the way it is now, yet i remember the times when people didnt genetically mess with food and we had tomatoes that actually smelled and tasted like tomatoes ... i used tomatoes just as an example ,but it goes for all fruits, vegetables and meet .. but we have to pay the price , pressure of hyper production ,more, more more , gimme gimme gimme
That's what the women say,,, more more more,,,uh oh

So true. I got married in 1987. Someone gave us a hand held blender. It would be considered vintage if you saw it, anyway, it still works just as new. I bought a fairly expensive blender a couple of weeks ago and it has smoke by the engine and wasn't blending properly. doh

I'll be looking forward to reading what each poster's preference is.

I remember how we would use brown bags to protect the books and everyone's book cover was covered with scribbles, doodles, etc.
Indeed your right ,, that's where wabi Sabi comes in handy...

AI_1984: And what about ALL glass bottles and jars had a deposit and we had to return them in order to get our money back.
That was in France.

In Germany, they also did that with the plastic bottles.
Which means you don't find any litter in the streets.

Here in Spain the streets, the countryside, the beaches are covered with plastic bottles and bags...which all end up in the sea!!!
The streets and countryside of where I live are not covered in plastic and bottles and nor are the villages near where my parents are from near the coast... must depend on the areas ....

HotrodLarrys: Since several other thing have already be covered, I will speak of Old fashioned Relationships, Years ago, it was taught, and believed that Marriage is till death do you part... It the Society we live in now, it is more treated as a disposable lighter... When one goes bad, just get another...This is now what the young generations are learning, (or seeing)... It is sad, but many of the newer versions of things do not carry the same values, as some from the past...JMO
Yes things have changed so much! You no longer need yo kill your partner to get a new one (Henri VIII), now you can get a divorce a save your children from becoming orphans at whim of lust! Much better example fof them!

It's true about Germany, been there. Absolutely clean and beautiful! No litter in the streets at. I was in Munich and some of the surrounding areas, like a different planet. I could live there permanently.

Paper grocery bags harbor cockroaches, they like the glue and lay their eggs in the folds. Once you get those in your house, it's hell to get rid of them. My daughter makes designer cloth grocery bags that can be washed.

I still wash dishes by hand, no dish washing appliance. Even when I had one, would always practically wash by hand anyway before loading the dishwasher.

Friskyone: What old fashioned way of doing things is better than how they are currently done.
1.Hand written letters - far more personal.
2.Ocean, train and airline travel - far more opulent and dignified than the cramped spaces of modern day travel.
3.Politics campaigning. A candidate would promote his/her virtues as opposed to denigrating the opposition.
4. Gas/fuel/petrol station service where an attendant would wash your windscreen and have a chat while filling your car.
5. Dancing cheek to cheek rather than trying to "Pop it like it's' hot".
