"Long distance" is a relative term. The entire area of both Ireland and Ulster will easily fit in the Western Australia where I live.

On another site I had this mail from a Ukraine lady.

Hello dear ****. This is the first time I've tried to meet a man on the internet. I don't even know where to start so you can pay attention to me.

Once again thank you for your all ideas and comments this has really has been an education for me. Of the more common reasons cited were scammers, fake profiles, identity theft, long distances, skin color, cultural differences, despotic leaders and I get it, but much of this can also be said of many other countries, so what is it about Africa? – Africa is the poorest continent on earth and partly because of this there just a poor general perception of the continent and its people. It’s 2020 and people are still starving in Africa much more so than anywhere else in the world and I cannot fault anyone if they have a negative perception based off this. At the tip of Africa sits South Africa a country with a painful and bitter past, and this is where I live, but we are in a much better place now than we’ve ever been before and the only negative reports you will hear will be from disgruntled white folk who hanker after the unjust privileges that they enjoyed in the past. The biggest obstacle, I think, to our outright success at the moment is the way in which we elect our leaders. South Africa has many brilliant leaders as demonstrated by our Eleven Nobel Prize Laureates and our many achievements in the sports and scientific fields, but because of the way in which we elect leaders we suffer.
If South Africa could just elect the best people available as leaders regardless of race, gender or affiliation, as the late great former leader Nelson Mandela did our country would flourish and then hopefully the “ You must not live in (South) Africa” label will disappear from this screen.
