One2note: I’ve eaten Chinese & Indian food On many occasions, so I guess I’ve probably eaten an animal we consider a traditional pet myself unwillingly.

tomcatty: I prefer hunting at the supermarket, that plucking feathers, and preparing is too tedious.
My lovely chicken this year was delicious, and ripping it apart with my teeth was quite satisfying.
I thought you had servants to do you're preparing for you sir Tom..laugh

ChesneyChrist: Somewhat barbaric because of the amount. All of civilised advance is based upon agricultural workers, it's not actually a good thing to eat more like a hunter gatherer than a hunter-gatherer in a fast-food culture of instant gratification. Meat eating was traditionally confined by the limits of scarcity.
You say barbaric !
Yet the civilised society is more inclined to have a punch up after a night out , than hunt for its prey for consumption.
If you’re gonna be manly & prove your masculinity, you may as well do it for a worthwhile cause & put food on your family’s table .

I like to go fishing for dolphins, using kittens for bait. I only eat the eyeballs, it seems unnatural eating the rest because dolphins are really intelligent.

Taking care of ones self has nothing to do with your eating habits .
Viruses and bugs can be caught from human interaction, irrespective of ones eating habits .

Maybe she's talking about her immune system being more resistant to germs and viruses?

I happen to be a vegetarian (for several reasons) and have a very strong immune system.
But, of course, I watch what I'm eating.

I wrote a thread about it a while ago, which was hijacked by some idiot.

In my opinion eating habits are part of taking care of oneself. Different foods carry different vitamins and minerals some of which are important for a metabolic balance, to process the fats, vitamins and minerals for all our organs to function properly. For instance my 90 year old Dad recently had to spend a week in hospital having blood transfusions because his blood was really low in red and white blood cells which is life threatening. The test results showed it was all down to a poor diet because of lack of appetite. His body was lacking some important vitamins that process all the other vitamins and minerals for the blood to produce a balanced amount of white and red cells and many other functions. His prescription was to have his diet overseen by a dietitian. He's totally recovered now ...
Also we all know that processed food and "junk foods" don't carry the same amount of nutrients than fresh produce. Unless they have thyroid or some other hormone balance problem it's very rare to find an obese person who eats a balance of fresh produce and rarely eats processed or "junk foods". We all know obesity is not good for health and immune system ...

I second Dan on a strong immune system being linked to a diet that includes produce rich in vitamins and minerals. People with a strong immune system don't tend to catch so many "bugs and viruses" and if they do it's a very mild version because they immune system fights them off very fast ...

All of the above in my opinion and experience ...
