One2note: Who kills for sport ? Fox hunting is a way of controlling animals who invariably kill livestock , not only for their own consumption, but because it’s their instinct. We kill animals , not only for consumption, but because they are pests , not dissimilar to other rodents.
Mostly fox are killed because they have no natural enemy except diseases. Now the wolf is returning in several countries in Europe, also in the Netherlands, and wolves hate foxes and kill them if they see a chance to do so. Til the time there are to many wolves, I guess all will be okay. In the early 20th century wolves where killed all over Europe, now people see that that we need them. Not only for foxes but also for dear and other animals.
Melody1671: I honestly don't think that's the case with "Sea World"... It's more like they want to save their dirty pockets...Hopefully people are opening their eyes and they will stop going to those sad "shows"... Are those species being saved in Chester, released or kept in captivity?... You know, I shouldn't have posted comments on this thread, but I did, when I saw the comment about bulls... This is such a painful subject for me... One2, please accept my most sincere apologies, but I will stop commenting... I hope you have a wonderful day...
Unfortunately, those endangers species are protected , due to poachers . Unless their governments enforce laws protecting these animals , the species will invariably become extinct. No, it was a great debate & your participation was welcome .
One2note: As my annual hunt got cancelled this year , I got into a heated debate about the morals of shooting animals , in my case , rabbits or birds, for human consumption. I don’t consider it a sport , like say for example, fishing or fox hunting . It’s a tradition that’s been going on for many years during the festive season . I don’t see it as any different to say , strawberry, or mushroom picking . What’s your thoughts ?
I don't see why not.
Someone killed the animals whose meat we buy and eat, too.
If we, as humans, stay clear of hunting animals and stick solely to vegetarianism or veganism there will be two problems as I see it. A) Fertile growing grounds will be quickly used and wars will start over that. Every nation will claim rights to lands whether through borders or squatters rights. What happens when drought makes growing difficult? We've seen pics of international aid being dropped in countries where war and the environment have made providing for the people an impossibility. If the world were suddenly all vegans, where does the extra rations come from?? B) With the lack of an animal cull, populations will become overpopulated. There will be no "supply and demand" in the herd sizes. Some species will become extinct (not from mans involvement) because of over population of hunters and a dwindling number of prey (man's lack of involvement will mean the numbers aren't being seen). Over population of animals will also mean the food supply for the herbivores will be decimated due to numbers and more land being taken by humans for growing crops. The animals will then have no choice but to raid these growing fields in order to survive. The farmers will then either introduce more hunters or shoot off the pests.

If that's what they have done for years in Spain well so be it, its not as if their picking on edge of extinction animals give them some credit;; those bulls are bread for the fights.. The rodeo and horse racing has been getting a bit of stick from the animal activists here for a few years now, but accidents happen and animals have to be put down; harden up its all part of the game...

I suppose that I'm a bit of a hypocrite but seeing frozen piglets in the supermarkets in Spain is a definite no no for me. The same as a hog roast. I'll stick to *Tube Steak*
