equiya: Thank you. I have a very strong immune system. I watch what i eat. I know what you are talking about. i was vegetarian before i became a vegan,
Praise the Lord, I am not a veggie but have taken advice on healthy eating and use certain supplements e.g vitamin d during the winter months, you can live very healthily on a veggie or vegan diet, but ai like my barbecues which can also be part veggie vegan,

But I like my hamburgers and grilled chicken, all in moderation, and long live well-done steak.

Live and let livecheering

That's what I thought too.thumbs up

I also agree with Selenite...
"Looking after oneself'" is watching your diet, no junk food and processed foods which destroys the immune system.
Eating fresh fruit and vegetables - organic if possible!

I also don't smoke nor take any caffeine.

Dan_777: Maybe she's talking about her immune system being more resistant to germs and viruses?

I happen to be a vegetarian (for several reasons) and have a very strong immune system.
But, of course, I watch what I'm eating.

I wrote a thread about it a while ago, which was hijacked by some idiot.

Btw...vitaminc C ..All the year round is also a MUST for a good immune system.

I've been taking 500mg daily for over 15 years now and I seldom get a cold.
No flu either for almost 40 years.

It’s about a heathy balanced diet and has nothing to do with being veggie or not .
I know of a man who is a meat eater , who has never caught a cold or flu in his entire life !

I am a meat eater myself but because I worked and travelled on public transport, I was exposed to seasonal bugs . Not so much as a sneeze in the winter months this year .
I know what you mean about the idiot !!

Selenite: In my opinion eating habits are part of taking care of oneself. Different foods carry different vitamins and minerals some of which are important for a metabolic balance, to process the fats, vitamins and minerals for all our organs to function properly. For instance my 90 year old Dad recently had to spend a week in hospital having blood transfusions because his blood was really low in red and white blood cells which is life threatening. The test results showed it was all down to a poor diet because of lack of appetite. His body was lacking some important vitamins that process all the other vitamins and minerals for the blood to produce a balanced amount of white and red cells and many other functions. His prescription was to have his diet overseen by a dietitian. He's totally recovered now ...
Also we all know that processed food and "junk foods" don't carry the same amount of nutrients than fresh produce. Unless they have thyroid or some other hormone balance problem it's very rare to find an obese person who eats a balance of fresh produce and rarely eats processed or "junk foods". We all know obesity is not good for health and immune system ...

I second Dan on a strong immune system being linked to a diet that includes produce rich in vitamins and minerals. People with a strong immune system don't tend to catch so many "bugs and viruses" and if they do it's a very mild version because they immune system fights them off very fast ...

All of the above in my opinion and experience ...
I made a blog about how home cooked meals are the only superfood you need .
If you rely on protein & vitamin supplements, then you have to question your diet .
I drink a fruit based juice ( made from at least 5 fruits ) or a vegetable one , once a day .
I have 7 variants on my menu at work And are proving vary popular .
How did we divert to this topic ?dunno

It’s also a fact that many vegans can be very uptight & argumentative.
