This is for Melody;
The year was 1967. The place was the paddock of Daytona Speedway. It was a couple of days before the start of the 24 hour. I was working as a mechanic for Fred Opert and we had entered a Chevron B4 BMW prototype. We were having an oiling problem (oil was puking out of the dry sump tank by the quart during practice and bathing the whole back of the car with oil). I had the engine out and completely apart (we thought we had a severe blowby problem). Anyway, during the night you would hear an engine start up and run for a while. Once in a while a car would venture onto the track and go back and forth in front of the pit lane, seating in a new set of brake pads or warming up a fresh engine. The Ford GT's had a heavy sound and whenever one was fired up people would pause whatever they were doing and watch if one rolled out onto the track. About 3AM Mark Donahue brought his Ford GT onto the track and was going back and forth and several people walked over to the pit wall just to watch. After about 5 minutes another Ford GT started up in the paddock and rolled out onto the track. It was Mario Andretti. He started doing the same thing only in opposite directions. One would go south while the other went north. After another 5 minutes of this Mario stopped at the end of his loop made a 180 and waited. By now the pit wall was packed with people and everybody was wondering if what they were seeing was really about to happen. Mark Donahue made his return, did a 180 and stopped next to Mario Andretti.

The calm night air was suddenly shattered by the sound of two 427 cu in full race engines screaming at god only knows what RPM. Four 18" wide gummy tires exploded to life as these two incredible machines went rocketing down the track in front of the pit lane. Nobody could believe their eyes. Here were two professional drivers in multi million dollar cars, the pinnacle of technology having a drag race in the middle of the night. There were no TV people there to witness it and talk it to death, no Ford executives, no officials to wave rule books around, no cops, Just a bunch of sleep deprived mechanics and hard core fans. Oh, and two men who reached the highest level in motor racing who hadn't lost their youthful exuberance.
I feel blessed to have been present at that place, at that time and honored to report to you all, what I saw that night.

Postscript: Mario won 3 for 3

One of my hobbies is maintaining a spreadsheet listing movies and assigning them 1 to 5 Stars. The list stands at 374 entries at the moment. Almost all the movies mentioned so far are on my spreadsheet.

On one movie I was forced to break my own rule and rate it at 6 Stars. The irony is, this movie isn't even in English and it's in Black & White with Sub-Titles.

I'm sure there are many members who can probably guess which movie I'm talking about.
