USELESS!
Work for money then money to purchase goods.
Remove the middle and simply work for goods.
A fair amount of homeless are like that. Hunter Gatherer mentality.

The value of the dollar in the U.S. since Nixon (nor do I blame him for it) took us off the gold standard is that it can be used to pay taxes (as it was already in most of the world. What the Democrats hide is that inflation which they promote by printing more than they take in is an un-graduated tax on the those whose holdings are merely dollars not property . It affects the working poor even more than the middle class. But, of course, the Media will never notice. Nor the academics.

Most people never get that.
It is not the price of something that got expensive, a tomato is still a tomato, but the value of the dollar has dropped.
They also never get that if something is 1 usd, then the next year it is 1.50 usd that is fifty percent inflation.
Then the next year it is 1.75 USD they only add the inflation fro the previous 1.50.
In reality it is 75% inflation from the original price.
Nothing will ever return to normal valuation.
That is what sucks.

Not really, the root of all evil is fear and greed which are consequences of ignorance.

'Ignorance' is the root of all evil.

I think everyone on here gets that. What they don't get is this particular inflation is nothing but a sneaky tax.

Trust me they don't.

"What was regular gas in the 70s?
In 1970, a gallon of gas cost 36 cents. By 1981, it had more than tripled to $1.19. For context as to just how bad things are now, $1.19 in 1981 was worth $4.05 in today's money — gas was actually cheaper back then at the height of the crisis.Aug 17, 2022"

I originally started buying comics at like twelve cents, then a quarter, I stopped when they went well over a dollar. Mid 90's.
You could but a cheap beater car for under 1k. Last a long time.
Try to find one now?
They most expensive car we bought mid 90's was a Ford truck with two gas tanks for 1500usd. Well under 50k mileage.
Never should have sold it.

Money is the tool of men who have reached a high level of productivity and a long-range control over their lives. Money is not merely a tool of exchange: much more importantly, it is a tool of saving, which permits delayed consumption and buys time for future production. To fulfill this requirement, money has to be some material commodity which is imperishable, rare, homogeneous, easily stored, not subject to wide fluctuations of value, and always in demand among those you trade with. This leads you to the decision to use gold as money. Gold money is a tangible value in itself and a token of wealth actually produced. When you accept a gold coin in payment for your goods, you actually deliver the goods to the buyer; the transaction is as safe as simple barter. When you store your savings in the form of gold coins, they represent the goods which you have actually produced and which have gone to buy time for other producers, who will keep the productive process going, so that you’ll be able to trade your coins for goods any time you wish.
