I never understood using filters and editing pictures. When you meet face to face, truth is out and a lot of people don't like deception so its a instant turn off for that reason alone. I'd rather show my ugly face and tell her who I really am so there is no lies or bs, anyone who is willing to accept me for me like I am willing to accept her for her, it will make for a much better union.No, thanks...

I do know I will look at a profile if there is something that interest me. I like to fish so if I see a picture of a big fish or even a little one to be honest I will click on the pic to get a closer look. Also to see if I recognize the fishing area Try changing your pictures. Maybe a dog, cat or something you like to do. 
This is going to sound silly but I am going to say it anyhow don't put a picture up you wouldn't want your mom to see. 
The pic will bring them in and then once in they will read and maybe just maybe there will be a connection!

If you don't mind a little help, or at least my attempt to help: Perhaps re-do your schtick. (how you ramble about yourself). After looking at your profile here, it seemed that you have much to offer but put it in a different package (no pun intended..) elaborate a little more regarding "ships and stuff" (excuse me for being too analytical, but that makes you look or seem like a bumpkin. Few people are entertained by pretension....it may seem "cute" to a few, but it's not a good bet, overall. Hope this gives you an idea. You look great, you are definitely academic--use those attributes instead of modeling Mortimer Snerd. as a man i get almost zero swipes on tinder.
