I'm a fairly average looking chap...slightly overweight, few grey hairs appearing, and I bite my nails.

So, nothng special.

If so many women speak of the personality of a man as being the most important aspect of a potential partner, can I honestly assume that an attractive woman would ever be interested in somebody like myself?

Or is it the case that women are just as focussed on physical appearence as men are?beer

Everyone is "guilty" of having physical appearance as being one of the criteria about dating. I put guilty in quotes because in today's world, people try to say that appearance isn't important, but who are they trying to fool?

We are all human and attraction is part of our process in selecting someone who we may be interested in. Men and women are both "guilty" of this. This may seem harsh, but it is reality.

....what you mean by "slightly overweight"?grin
My guy may have a nice belly, few gray hairs and bite nails.

He must work, get income from his work...preferably work out of home and not a computer job. All computer workers are the so called "players"...cause they have their wives home!grin

Of course is physical attraction relevant.
But what is attraction? I think every single person has his own sight of this. For one woman is a muscular guy attractive, for an other woman is this he very unattractive.
It´s all in the eye of the viewer.cheers

Don't have a prlem with carrying a few extra pounds and greying hair is attractive, I feel.... not keen on the biting nails thing, not really. But "average" is subjective, just as "good looking" is......

One thing I maintain is that "good looking" and "attractive" (which comes in many forms) are two very different things. I have known some amazingly good looking men and, to be frank, I wouldn't give them house-room!! I would go for an "attractive" man any day, thank you!! smitten

cheers

Got to agree with you beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I work with a man who is average looking but has a great sense of humour and before he got married wasnt short of admirers

i do believe that physical appearance is more important than people let on, but i also believe that any guy i ever consider should be more actions than looks so to speak. Mainly someone who would be able to sweep me off my feet rather than make me goggle at him all night cuz he's drop dead gorgeous. Personality is a major issue for me... and the nail biting thing would really phase me....

I think that once you get to know a person, they become more attractive as time goes by.

Personally, I don't like perfection, I like interesting. An interesting looking guy...daydream what a yummy

I am sure you have had some very attractive women interested in you at some time or another.tongue

Women are not that shallow. I don't personally go for only looks, but they are somewhat important!

I'm sure there a several if not many "attractive" women attracted to you here and in the "real world"...personality is important and so is physical appearance..but in the end its in the eye of the beholder.
You ask if you can honestly assume that an attractive woman could be interested in you? what is your idea of attractive? it works both ways...

looks aren't everything.. as I say... "Pretty is as pretty does", learned that one the hard way.... spent 10 years with my ex, when he met he was "pretty", six pack, dark and and blue eyes, made me drool, but his behavior was not "pretty", so looks are not the first thing i go for anymore, but there has to be some chemistry or physical draw, if u think someone is so ugly it turns ur stomach at the thought of them touchng u, or kissing u, then...i'd have to pass even if he treated my like gold.
