No more unconditional love, then...?
Sadly, "high maintenance" can continue with divorce settlements whether they are by default, gratis, or through even higher maintenance litigation.
You're right in one way. But I'm a foolish optimist.
Besides, I'm master of my own destiny. No point whingeing about my ex-partner. And it would be oxymoronic, impossible, to be crying "high maintenance" about a potential or present partner.

cutypie: 50/50 in this day and age..............prenup needed for sure for me
voldoll: I have a friend that is very high maintenence.....She goes to the hairdresser 3 tmes a week, gets a manicure and pedicure every 2 weeks. Spends loads of money on her make up and practically lives at the cosmetic counter getting make overs, and only purchases the latest and most popular make up. She needs to purchase a new outfit at least every week, and gets a new car every two years. That is high maintenence in my book.
Sounds more like vanity. Either way, wouldn't be interested in someone like that.

But there must be men who are....? So, high maintenance is probably different for different people.
For example, a woman who is quite opinionate and speaks out a lot, that could be high maintenance to a man who, on the other hand, doesn't mind a women, like the one descibed above, spending time and money on extensive grooming and expensive wardrobe...as long as she keeps her mouth closed....

Just wondering???
If she had something intelligent and/or informative to say, I'd be all for it. If not, she would be just a loud mouth.
High maintenence would be someone that requires an unusually high degree of time, attention or money or a combination of any or all of those. Yeah, not interested.
Vanity or being a loud mouth are different, but could be a part of a high maintenence person.

Yes, but wouldn't you say someone would have to be vain to be high maintenance? If she weren't so concerned about her appearance, she wouldn't be spending the money to keep herself up. At least her husband must not mind her spending it because he gives it to her to spend. Or maybe he thinks she looks so bad that she needs all the up keep?

Not necessarily, it could be just time and attention alone and looks may never even enter the equation. Or even money, but that generally does have a lot to do with being high maintenence.
Like Rivame said, it's all about me, me, me. It gets tiring quickly. I couldn't even think about dating someone like that. My preferance is someone who is truly independent and more of the wash and wear type.
