Darkhorseman: Let me get this straight ... in the USA it is socialism if you look after your old, sick and needy with government funding.
But it IS NOT socialism if you look after your bankers, speculators and big business with government handouts.
You must live in another universe.

I live in Florida, Darkhorse. We got more elderly care facilities.....re hab facilities......down out drug facilities......unwed mother facilties....than I can count. Ever county in the State by State statute is forced to have them. It handle by the State governments to provide the assistance to our down out.
The Federal government comes in as a provider....of moneys....training....data gathering.....like the CDC or the Helath and Human Services. But they don't get down into the actual care and running of the facilities which are private owned and managed.
That monitoring is left to the State gov't that are closer to the facilities.
With 300+ million people in the country, Darkhorse the states pick up what often is the work of Federal governments in smaller countries here.
Just sharing some of our Universe with you.

HUGs religous tolerance is a key Christian tenant. Depends on if you are talking to Bible thumbing hell and brim stoner or a Christian with an open mind and soft heart. Difference of religion and faith, I suspect.
I have tried to explain and to understand...Obama's long time relationship in Rev. Wrights church. I think that Obama is a Christian.
A man just starting his walk in Christ. A babe in Christ, if you will.
But I also got to understand.....how he can sit in a pew of Rev Wright church for so many years. There I come to this connection to liberation
theology and its connection to Central American socialism and communism. I think that was a draw that kept him there, when Oprah bailed out. It had political signifance to him.....this liberation theology.
It did not grap Oprah.

please tell me no one here thinks they let their money sit and collect dust.
they invest, loan, and fund the very institutions that are are in dire straits.
they did not get the returns on the investments they made so they cut back on the work force and raised the cost on everything..
now they are coming to the same source that did provide them profits (smaller then what they wanted), and threaten our parents and children's futures if we the working class do not capitulate to their demands for federal welfare and subsidies to allow them to continue to live their extravagant lifestyles they have come to expect and now demand....
My response is I am invested in some things and am taking a loss currently.
Screw the Affluent Wealthy Types. how does my 1000 dollar loss become less important than your 500,000.00 loss?
I'm voting out every politician who has served more than 4 terms, Party lines mean nothing to me anymore.
As for Wall Street... never been... but My street I know, and it is hurting too.
When My street starts improving then I'll gladly consider a "trickle down economic plan" for Wall street.

Well exactly...everybody is saying poor people don't deserve anything cause they're to lazy to work and just want handouts.....I hear nothing about the hardworking people who are not rich suffering too...and if I do hear it...it's their fault for getting into heavy debt..etc etc ect!!!!!!!

I am not judging his faith, HUGs. Am judging a long time relationship with a Church whose political ideology is a "liberation ideology". That take me directly to socialism.

Oh come on...I watched the whole thing while it was going on...nobody had to tell me and I didn't have to read it anyplace....he wanted to get into Iraq to take out Hussein and used that as an excuse to do it....I didn't see him standing up there and admitting there weren't any either when he found out..and...He is the President...the leader of the country...and it's his watch!!!!!!!!

almost every state has regulations LIMITING how many "beds" are allowed in their state....for sick and elderly care.
regardless of how many are needed!!!
They stop hundreds of new facilities from being built.
This is why there are so many dying at home.
almost all facilities are filled to the max and nowhere left for them to go....
And why....
because so many older folks are on medicaid/ medicare.....
(a service that they have to pay for now)
the states will not allow more beds because it would mean that the medi systems will have to fork out more $$$ .
{I know exactly how this works because I have worked in nursing homes for many years- was in on the discussions about finances}
I don't get that for a second!

Well maybe I'm wrong he could've and I just don't remember it...but my suspicion has always been that he knew damn well from the beginning there was no weapons of mass destruction there and that the others were just used as scapegoats...it's a little to coincidental for me to believe that bush was chomping at the bit to get at Hussein and all of a sudden there were weapons there...that weren't really there to give him the excuse to be able to do it....

Do a word search on "Goldfarb disinformation campaign" and pre Iraq war, HUGs. Is the most recent gov't findings on how the Iraqi WMD intell was wrong. Involves Iran. US bi partisan study is out on it.
