February fly

against the better judgment
of some chilled midwinter day
a fly walks my wintry window
slowly traversing an escape
past the abyss of old autumn

or near certainty of lurching
past the race's starting line
too fast, the blowing horn of
a fouled beginning to spring

still, it seems a certain sign
like Punxsutawney Phil or
purple crocuses in fresh snow
that despite dark feelings
and days, spring's a comin'

...despite dark feelings and days, spring a coming' - it will come, bringing joy and happiness, I hope, ... past the abyss of old autumn and midwinter days of our past. This poem brings hopes of our longings being fulfilled in the end ... when spring comes ... at last ... for all of us to enjoy.
