Old Fella Blues

I met a man the other day
An old fella with lots of grey
Driving trucks an riding bikes
Was always his way

He said to me he had the big C
An his life was terminally
But a grin he had from ear to ear
It didnt seem to bother he

I stopped.. an thought for a while
About this fella with the toothy smile
While he kept talking
I wondered about life's mile

For he'd rather enjoy what life remains
Than be sick an have no gains
Wondering if it would cure
Ya never free from the pains

So i listened to his tale with intent
My ears a sounding board for no rent
As he spoke without fear
Wondering where my pity went

For pity was not in his mind
He loved his job for they were kind
Testing bikes an the odd chore
Not glancing back to look behind

Fore he already knew his fate
An his life he could relate
With no remorse
I shook his hand an said good onya mate

I dont know if i'll see him again
The victim of cancer's rain
I only wish
He leaves this world with little pain
