you in me

you are the glint in my eye
you are the sinew in my arm
the very DNA in my cells
you are my offering of time

father, your actual bones bore
me through childish dreams
and youthful ranting angers
to find as i pulled away

as far as i could be myself
that circles go 'round to find
myself back at my beginning
there with your corny jokes

and light admonitions to me
to be a man, not unfeeling,
but gently strong, happily
human as you were in yours

my half-life or half-my-life
is owed to all of you
given as your progeny
my own, my founder, my father

Hi, agoodguy2have,
In addition to the glint in my eye and the sinew in my arm this loving tribute to "father James M." would leave him feeling proud. Wishing you a happily human Father's Day!!!

It was always hard for me to call my father or think of him as my hero...but that is what he truly was.....it is a great tribute you share so well here.....be it your dad's legacy.....
