Choice

I want my mum
I want my dad
Is that too much to ask
I want them both
Where I can see
Not travel to and fro

Why can't they both
Live here with me
I'm not that bad
I'll try to be
Much better still
If you'll come live with me

You say that both
Of you have changed
At present things are different
Love has left, no longer there
Is love for me
Gone the same way

No, no you say
Don't worry so
You love me forever
But how I ask
Can this be so
If both of you have changed

If you can choose
To love me now
And choose to love me ever
Then why I ask
Why can't you choose
To love one another

You are so right, a child just doesn't understand, super poem, about a very raw subject. handshake

From one who has felt this at close quarters recently, I know it is a subject that adults will continue to struggle with. Great write Steve.....niahpeace teddybear teddybear

Hi, steve1223,
Oh, the complexities of modern families. Is love for me Gone the same way... Your poem captures well the insecurity around forever-love that divorce brings into childhood.
