The End of a Life

Reaching high into the sky
As if to try for heaven
Stood there, watched untold
For how many centuries
What could you tell
Of things you've seen
Beneath wide spread boughs
Of things that have lived there
Or homes upon you made
Now man comes to chop you down
And end your life forever

Hi Steve, I am not sure if I understand well what you mean... but while I was reading your lovely poem, it came to my mind one of those beautiful, big, and old trees. Cheers applause bouquet teddybear

Thank you Ayhra you have got it spot on. Had in mind one of those old trees that have been standing there for centuries watching the world evolve around them. Some of those trees live up to 5000 years old
