What really matters in this world you ask Look at the pond where the sunsets shimmer Sitting on the shore where to lay and bask Watching all the gorgious color glimmer
Hike up past the forest filled with softwood Where puffy white clouds drift just overhead To almost reach up and touch where I stood Way above where my quiet valley spread
The wind and sun and stars know who you are As time will stand aside and let you pass Await the end of night for morning star Marvel at the beauty of old sea glass
Subtle greatness of life lies everywhere By walking away from vanity fair

About this poem:
Descriptive little sonnet about just little beautiful things that fill our day with color and place and sense of time and purpose and bring comfort and peace and just exist.
What really matters in this world you ask Look at the pond where the sunsets shimmer Sitting on the shore where to lay and bask Watching all the gorgious color glimmer

Hi Yankee4you
This is such a well crafted sonnet, on a technical level it works very well - the subject is the sheer essence of poetry.

Another master of the Sonnet in the making!
Fellsman... you've got a pretty good challenge on your hands with talent like this!!!
Time for a sonnet competition me thinks! (that we as appreciative readers might cast our votes!!)
Let the competitive writing begin!!
How about I start it off by suggesting a 'topic' upon which the Sonnet is written??

those that matter the most to me are the "subtle greatness of life" and we can definitely feel more their essence by "walking away from vanity fair." Thanks yankee4you for sharing this beautiful account of simple greatness of life.

Hi Yankee,
A lovely sonnet and a beautiful subject. Sometimes even poetry can't express these moments.
