Distant Memory

Fire runs through my veins
And pain twists and turns
No matter where I run or hide
It always seems to find me

On my knees I pray to what?
Something must be out there
I know not is it god or what
Maybe some universal spirit

Seems that whatever is out there
Does not pay attention
For on it goes this pain
Heartache and awful loneliness

Into the void I shout my agony
Silence is all that to me returns
Silence so loud it deafens me
Now I know I am alone

Tears that drip upon the ground
Are gone to show no passing
Will I be like my salty tears
Nothing, not even a memory

Mind's eye sees the tracks
And blood slowly welling
Has it come to this? no hope
No pain and no redemption

A sign I ask, just a sign
To set feet in different direction
I wait in vain for no-one cares
Not even the so called almighty

And as my life slowly drains
A mantle of peace surrounds me
Finally this awful pain
This pain becomes a distant memory

Steve please hang in there. I have been there many a times and that before you know it that pain will be cool replaced with glorious feeling.

I feel your pain very strongly.

Take care. WW

I think we have all been there Steve but God sees it all and his Holy Spirit is with us. I do try to believe this and it helps. I was married to a non believer for over 30 years but even so as a painter he always gave paintings to the churches in the villages where we lived. I started painting after he had been dead 10 years and I gave a painting of Christ on the cross to the church that I attend. You are very prolific with your poetry - I have a conflict of interest with the painting!!

Our dear paloma is given some great words of comfort as she always does, I can only say we can send good vibes to you to help until the pain subsides.
