Glory

Firecrackers rise
into summer’s cloudy skies.
Where is freedom’s ring?

tryst
never seen a celebration of your independence but can relate to what you are saying, the emptiness of our holidays rings with meaningless nothings if we dont know our Creator.

Hi, cafetwo2010, tryst, and Odette67,
Thank you for taking the time to read and comment on my haiku. I did get to enjoy Boston's fireworks last night, after a thunderstorm delay, accompanied briefly by a deluge, and followed by traffic's gridlock. Sharing the occasion with friends made it all worthwhile - not to mention the great fireworks. Hope all had a safe and enjoyable 4th! May we celebrate freedom in peace.
Hi, Odette67, I've been to a few Guy Faulkes parties given by Cambridge friends - sans fireworks. What fun they are!

Thank you for stopping by and sharing in the celebration of holiday customs and "light ning spread!"

"Where is freedom’s ring?"

You are a special lady...

Hi, Ondos,
Thank you for your kind comment.

I believe that "freedom's ring" is still mired at the bottom of Boston Harbor in a quasi-disintegrated hope{tea}chest.

Hi, TUPLDRF,
Thank you for taking the time to read and comment on my haiku. The Boston Harbor clean-up effort has made progress on reducing pollution; so, perhaps there is hope for finding "freedom's ring". I'm not so sure about that tea, however.
