My Muse

I crossed the bridge of sanity
I stood there, feeling invincible
At the crossroads, eternity one side
The other leading to liberty

Sympathy I had not asked for
Nor was I terrified at all
For I carried the sword of lost illusions
With it I could ignite lightning

As I peered through my telescope
I could see the ocean in the distance
And was wonderstruck by the vision
It seemed the sea was on fire

You could see the gleam in the sky
As if reflected by flawless mirrors
So bright that the sun was dulled
Hazy around the edges and losing clarity

How long I stood there I have no idea
I had to shake myself to awaken
My mind had somehow gone numb
It was intuitive that I chose straight on

While I still had illumination I camped
Sleeping beneath the starry sky
Trying to count the infinite stars
Seeing the dancing flame of my fire

In my sleep I could fantasize
About the thrill of being immortal
Although I knew it was delusional
And the feeling was evanescence

As I awoke I felt alive and serene
Even though I was faced by a strange man
Who appeared to be translucent
It mattered not, I felt totally fearless

I wondered if this was my muse
Sent here somehow to heal me
To ease the cyclone of spectrum
And finally give me closure
