Eve’s Conversation With God (part 1of2)
Dear God. I really feel that I need to talk to you about a gross injustice. I’m sure that you already know what I am going to say, seeing that you are omnipotent, but I still need to get this off my chest.
The first thing I knew was that I was opening my eyes next to something that looked like me, yet there were differences. You told me that he was Adam and that you had created him out of dust. Then you told me that I was created out of Adam’s rib, to be his helpmate, his companion, and you called me Eve.
I was in total awe God, especially when I found out that everything I could see, you had created. There was so much for me to take in. you God were the creator of everything, and it was all for us. Except … the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. From that tree we were not to eat.
I didn’t care about that tree, what could be so special about it. You said, ‘don’t eat from it,’ so that was good enough for me. Besides, I had literally only just opened my eyes. Why would I go against your wishes.
Adam and I frolicked around the garden; Garden of Eden you called it. There were so many types of fruit that we never knew where to start.
Everywhere we went there were different types of animals. You gave us the job to name them, that was fun. From one day to the next everything was just perfect. Seeing that you, God, had created everything there would be nothing here that could harm us. Oh foolish me.
One day in my solitary wanderings I came across a magnificent tree. Instinctively I knew that this was tree of the knowledge of good and evil. I didn’t even hesitate but turned away from it.
Imagine my surprise when I heard a voice call me that was neither you or Adam.
“Eve come here.”
Tentatively I approached the tree. There amongst the leaves, on the lowest branches was a creature. It had a long thin round body with no arms or legs. Never before had I seen anything like this before.
“What are you?” I asked the creature.
“Why I am only a servant of God. He sent me to see you. He now wants you to eat from this tree. Oh, and by the way, you may call me Serpent.”
