beneath the mackeral sky
on the rivers bend
in the shade of the tree
we let our bodies mend
the breeze cooled my thoughts
and took them far away
the sun warmed my bones
giving movement some say
the birds played their tunes
upon my heartstrings
natures orchestra
the beauty that it brings
the river's receding tide
scouring the land
amazing my eyes
as if sculptured by hand
the bush and its smells
my lungs did admire
but the presence of you
engaged my soul's fire
your lips like strawberries
so full and sweet
your touch like a feather
soft and discreet
your passion like a fire
blazing away
your laughter dessert
on this beautiful day........
