Here we are again on the date site
Maybe we will find our mate tonight
Excitement and anticipation building
We flip through profiles and find it discouraging
You want the woman who is the perfect weight
She has to be perfect to be your mate
Love to travel, camp, snuggle and sexy kisser
And oh she has to be a great fisher
It’s enough to make a girl feel discouraged and a failure
To go on looking everyday takes more and more courage
All she wants is for someone to love her as she is
Not a super model with lipstick that can’t be kissed
So be careful guys for what you ask for
Less maybe best instead of more and more
Yes the chemistry must be there
But we are not all blondes and perfect – so be fair
Do you want someone whose hair cannot be messed
Or someone who loves you and thinks you’re the best
Someone who ends up a nightmare instead of a dream
Or a best friend who could help and play on your team
Another night and again we girls look with hope in our heart
That the one guy right for us will see how wonderful we are
That he will look for the true person behind the face
Not just all sugar, spice and lace

Of course Kathy, even the roughest of diamonds can respond to the skills and TLC of the lapidary - and emerge so much the better for the experience.
What more people should realise is that losing the splendour of our youth can often be compensated for by an inner beauty - as that is the kind that never fades.

That's okay - I don't NEED someone - it would just be nice sometimes to go out with someone.
But I have my poems!

Oh well - I must admit we too fantasize on our perfect man - but if the chemistry is there - I believe the chemistry is what makes the person perfect in OUR eyes.

A song comes to mind right now: "You look perfect to me" (Ed Sheeran)
Thank you for sharing and for raising our poetic sights. As Valentine's Day approaches, let us give thanks to those who will look for the true person behind the face.
