Boxes of Life

My life arrived today
Four cardboard boxes
Battered by sadness
Torn with heartache
Stained with spilt emotions
And tied with sorrow
They had travelled this land
Nearly as far as I
And seen so much more
Than most hearts could bear
They looked as if grief
Was not a choice
But always mandatory
I cut the string
Hope opened the covers
They were empty
Except for a small
Piece of notepaper
That was as desolate
As I

Rob, my friend. As always it is a pleasure to read your work. I'm glad you circled back around to this piece. It conveys so much...in so few words. I am always awed by your talent. gift teddybear

My life vs Four cardboard boxes

the poet explains his life distinctive of four spans, straight and honest, fragile at every phase

Battered with heartache

perfect seekers never win

with sorrow had travelled this land far as I

in search tried beyond limits

grief Was mandatory

none can cannot escape downs

I cut the string Hope opened

dares to opt only for +ve and finds new ways even at dead end

inside Piece of notepaper as desolate As I

though each life is a distinct autobiography

Descriptive of life in general with its futility yet hope, effort standout.

Thank you

Life bows us many times unhappiness but still we find a glimpse of light to hold on to. Nice concept poem. Enjoyed. SM

We should allow emotions, sadness, grief.... then, one day, we arise from darkness again, stronger, full of hope.
Thank you for these lines, very moving.
