MARCO POLO

Embedded image from another site

You came to my door as a stray
Moved into my home and heart to stay
12 Years have gone by so fast
Thinking of you today and of the past

Today you have gone to your final rest
Your pain and suffering gone at last
I will miss your bright whiskery face
Chasing through the house at a fast pace

The heavy weight on my legs or lap
Curling in a ball for a nap
Much more than just a cat to tend
For 12 years you were my best furry friend

So I lay you to rest today
Knowing I will see you on my Resurrection Day
Welcoming me with your furry face
Again laying on my lap in your favorite place

Magnificent poem darling. The deep spiritual side of you comes out loud
and clear. May Marco rest in peace.

Thank you Cafe. Feeling really bad for my brother right now and this is all I could think of to do. It is the same brother who lost his grandson last Nov. due to a work accident.

Topkaz - my brother and his wife have taken in 4 strays (Marco one) and many over the years. But Marco was very special to him. Thank you for your understanding. I know its not the usual poems on here, so I didn't expect many people who respond except animal lovers who understand. tysm

Thank you Timotie - I'm not sure my brothers would agree with you all the time, but as siblings go - we three are fairly close.

Hi Kathy - I am a dog person, but believe me, I can relate to how we can become very attached to our pets. A year ago I had to get my dog (cross bred beagle) put down (due to old age - she was 15) and now I only have a few photos to remember her by. Thanks for sharing - lcbr

I never take pets, though I love animals dearly, because of the fear of losing them some day. It is so much of a stress losing someone. Life is so sad, everyone, us included, is going to die some day. The older I get the more often I catch myself thinking about it. Is life worth living and fighting all the way after all?! Thank you for the touching poem, dear Godsprincess, kindest regards! hug

LCBR - so sorry about your dog. I too love dogs. However, I am allergic to dogs (possibly cats)- their dander and saliva. But I pet and make of any dog I see as I'm walking. Have to wash my hands after - so sad because I really really love them.

Thank you for reading.

Marikia - life is worth living and everyone's life matters. I too do not have pets, but it is because of my allergies and other reasons. However, I absolutely adore dogs and usually end up informally adopting my neighbor's dogs wherever I live! laugh
