Bold feathers reflecting sunbeams red in flight’s pattern to elude small, winged force of nature protecting generations swoops outsized dives hard into vulnerability unseen but felt dark, small, unrelenting to distract from future’s cradle until regal red-tailed intruder departs.
Hi, ben999, agoodguy2have, and caroljoyce, I had one impression when I first viewed the two birds in flight. Paying closer attention, however, allowed me to see what was really going on. I had hope to capture that experience in this poem, as both reality and allegory. Thank you for reading and taking the time to comment!
I actually did not think bird till I read the other comments While reading for some reason I thought of fighter planes

yes me too, but then the clue was in the first line, feathers, but I'd focused on Defense....just shows how we all read things differently....love writing about nature, so much scope...Niah
Hi, Happygolucky4u and niah9, How fun to have this float to the surface again. Although both birds were doing what they must for survival (defending their future), I was amazed at the strength, agility and determination of the smaller bird, seemingly at greater disadvantage, who was eventually successful. Yes, nature does have so much to offer us! Thank you for your comments.
