Gypsy was washed down in a canal. I adopted her. I only had her for a few days. I left her in the care of a neighbour for a weekend. When I returned, I was told that she was pushed off the steps by the neighbour's larger dogs and she fell and died. They said they disposed of her body so I never saw her again.
Went on a poetry- writing hiatus for over 2 years so feeling like a stranger to both poetry writing and the poets in the corner now. I hope there are still poets here of my days...it would be nice to hear from you all again. Our furry friend was put down this weekend due to his failing health. I didn't think his passing away will move me as much as it did. Nothing much has stirred me in the past three years that's enough to help me find the courage to try writing again.
I wrote this poem a number of years ago in tribute to a man who was not only my boss but also my friend. He was a quiet genius in electronics and one of the earliest developers of cable TV. At one time he owned 9 systems in 4 states. Since this is Memorial Day I thought it fitting to post my poem.

This poems is for those who in bad times left their own love alone to weep and tease from world.
This is a (probably bad) translation by myself of a poem I wrote in my native tongue. I don't know if it even becomes anything near to a poem in English. But I post it anyway.
Into the abyss One ventures in time From birth to Heaven One dwells in time As we age Changes we not notice for we change With a blink of an eye from childs knowledge We gain matter and thought are knowledge expands we gain Are mi

This piece of poem was writing some yrs back as i laid on my bed doing some thinking as i always do when i'm up in the morning. I couldn't figure out why even tomorrow - nearest future is so unpredictable and those who are happy now could be the saddest tomorrow due to bad news and those unhappy today could be the happiest tomorrow too and so on. so i wrote these lines down after that moment.

In 1980 I flew to Zambia. In fact then and now I fly often enough to experience emergencies. In 1980 considered what could happen. I prepared myself by writing this poem.
A quanrdary; where does it come from. A word came to me in writing and I was pondering its source. I needed to look it up to make sure it fit. Where had I ever heard this word?
