Headlong, blindly

Stretching before me I see my life’s shadow as it fades into the distance
There on the ground in front of me all the memories of my life on display
Here for those to snicker, to bicker, to find something bold, old cold or dead
Yet amongst these items there stands tall those things I hold dear and joyous

Feeling as if the life I have lead is now little more than a sale, like some novel of romance
Here for someone to look over or overlook; I suppose it’s all in your view they say
As the life behind me fades away, those moments clearer than of tomorrows filled dread
The quiet moments treasured of you aid in drowning the cacophony of life’s passing raucous

Every night the dream filled labyrinthine darkness through which I pass alone
Brings forth the bitter but oh so treasured memories of our times and lives together
In these treasured moments between the strokes of night, amid the beat of heart
Therein only do I find my resting place and my minds blissful solitude of peace and solace

Yet therein lies my downfall and dreams demise amid my fancies bare bone
For tomorrow must follow today and my comfort flea before the rising tide of forever
Each day I chin up and smile bright with my prayers, my hopes, my need for a brand new start
Yet each day I spend more and more lost amidst my reveries, with each new day a-bollix

The sun sinks slowly into the sea
and golden Light turns to pink
before settling into the black of Night.

Night falls silently across the land
as stars stud its black fabric,
a dark blanket of Serenity.

Serenity that covers all except myself
and as the fateful hour of Sleep approaches
I despair to enter a Dream.

For it is in this Dream
that you and I will Meet
And like all my dreams of late
You will say the Words i long to hear.

For a fleeting moment before the Sun comes up
My Heart will soar
My Spirit lift.

But as I open my eyes to the harsh light of Day
i'll remember
and then my Heart, and my Spirit
will once again fall in Flame.

So as the hour of Sleep marches closer
(my Heart drums the beat in my ears)
I resolve to prevent my dreaming.
But the battle is lost, as my eyes fall shut
and behind their lids begin to dream.

Once again, you and I will meet.

Rain falls from above
As the heavens cry for me
My own tears have long dried up
Not unwilling, but unable to come

Days gone past
Weeks unnoticed
Raindrops on the window
Form a face I wish to forget
While the wind howls
Words I never dared, but should have said

Lightning lights up the skies
Memories darken my mind
Years of dreaming over in a moment
Years of wishing and praying
Like Lightning
Gone in a flash

Slow rumble of internal torment
Rattle the window panes
The Clouds groan in despair
On my behalf
Unable to cope with the silence in me

My soul numbed beyond belief
My blood, cold rivers of ice
Warmed only by what could have been
By dreams and word such as these

Together Forever, we always would say,
I can’t understand how that faded away

I’ll dream of you now, on into the night,
Hoping that soon you’ll be holding me tight.
Sitting alone, thoughts running by fast,
My mind drifts off to think of the past.
That very first moment that our eyes met,
Our first kiss we shared, stars shining above,
Lips touching at last, hearts falling in love.

I open my eyes, hoping it came true.
It didn’t again so with tears in my eyes
I hold my pillow to soften the cries.

But distance means nothing in love that’s true
Although I long for one touch from you,
I’ll squeeze that pillow while we’re apart,
You hold me too, you hold my heart.

My whole life was lived just so we could meet.
I’ll dream of you now, on into the night,
Hoping that soon you’ll be holding me tight.
