I jsut can't think
I'm losing control
The pain that's inside
Runs straight to my soul
Deep, dark, and empty
Tired of living in sin
My mind starts to wonder
Where do I begin
When when my dad would beat me
Or should I be 18
When love always escapes
I've never known happiness
Or felt loves truest form
Now deep in my mind
Rages a violent storm

I just can't think,
I'm losing control,
The pain that's inside,
Cuts straight to my soul,
Deep, dark and empty,
Tired of living in sin,
My mind starts to wonder.
Where should I begin?
Should I start as child,
When my step-dad used to beat me?
Or, should I be 18,
When I thought love always escaped me?
I'd never known happiness,
Or felt loves truest form,
Now deep in my mild,
Rages a violent storm.

Lingering within the confines of my subconscious, they still remain.
Pieces of faded pictures from past occurrences seem as though they took place in someone else's life.

No silver spoon nor chandeliers
but plenty of beatings, plenty of tears
battered and bruised in pools of blood
as little kids frightened over her we stood
she never complained about the life she had
just now and then her eyes.. were sad
we lived with a monster n nobody knew
back in the day that's what you would do
keep it behind close doors for oh!.. the shame
fingers may point who would get the blame
whiskey he drank each and every day
I watched my dad slowly fade away
at night we'd sit around her armchair
him gone to the pub.. bag of toffies she'd share
I still can smell ..her lovely home bakes
in her well polished old stove..her wonderful cakes
devoted to us kids till the very end
"mother you were an angel".... this message I send..

So many days have come and
gone, still no word from him..
She wrapped her pink blanket
tightly around her and rocked
back and forth
'Where is he, she sobbed?'I need
him so much.'
She had marked X's on her calendar
for all those lost and lonely days,a
wrenching eighteen months without
his hugs and the way he'd twirl her
around the room..
She picked up pen and paper and
drew picture after picture of all those sunny
days and fun walks in the park
The days dragged on which turned
into more months
Not even a letter! 'Did something
happen to him she gasped?'
It's not like him to stay away for
so long..'
Overcome with grief, she just decided
to take a long walk in the rain
She put on her boots and twirled her little
red umbrella kicking through puddles as
she went
Just then the town bus slowed
to a stop and amidst the pouring
rain a man emerged from the bus
with a cane and limp
She stood there in total
disbelief
It was him!
It was daddy home from
the war!
He dropped his cane holding
his arms wide and his little nine
year old girl squealed with joy
'I was hurt and in the hospital
darling and my strength to poor
to write
He pulled a stack of his
little girls letters from his
nap sack and said, 'You
kept me alive my precious..
Let's go home..'

The world as we know it will soon be exchanged...
Replaced with a world that's so beautifully arranged...
Estranged they were lost, their parents deranged...
Yet found themselves willing to change...
The purest of heart they're unwilling to fight...
Resistance of hate is their purest delight...
Soon there will be no more wars or contentions...
Just give them the proper attention....

The wheels of the mind move around and around
Like a ship on an ocean heading southward bound
The destination is set but the route unsure
As our minds first thoughts must be so pure.
We instill in our minds throughout our lives
The routes to travel like bees to their hives
But what we dont know is we set and distort
From a child to an adult we try to learn to sort
The lies and untruths that are said in our age
Are put their to try and protect like a cage
Parents truly beleive that they are doing their best
But it is later in life that we are put to the test.
For as we grow older and we duly find
No need for such rubbish thats stuffed in our mind
If we could only remember to sort out what we really need
Only then can we become a most peaceful breed.
