The Porch Swing!
The Porch Swing!
Little Girl on the family porch swing!
Swinging to & fro
With one eye on the clock of time
The other looking at her partner of the night
She had warmed a seat next to her
In the shadows where they could not be seen
John, suddenly startled her sitting,
snuggling mighty close
Her longing for him was deep inside
she felt excited for him the very most!
The wanting melted her in his arms
and they hugged as one on fire
He whispered that he loved her
Her first kiss was given then of course
His hand found her teen’s softness and she slapped him,
but she wanted more of this of course
She said don’t do that and he replied
Of all the girls ~ I want you the very most!
She said I am only thirteen and never did
this before
She was going to give into him, but then
Her mother came to the outside kitchen door ~
Rachel it’s time to come in,
you have to say goodnight to John
That night she dreamed of John
and it set her heart on fire
Later on, she had learned that he
was just a romantic liar!
She had learned lesson one
In growing up ~ from girlhood ~
To womanhood.
He had professed that he loved her
just to get what some men want
As Rachel’s life passed by
the swing would change to the back seat of a car,
a living room couch and after marriage a honeymoon hotel ~
It all started on a family porch swing ~

To that someone special!
Would you care to walk down lover’s lane
with me?
Walk hand and hand through the pastures
of love ~
Breath in the freshness of the country’s air
as we search for our haystack of happiness
Gaze upon the heaven’s blue
Listening to harps of angel’s playing just for you
Feel the strings of your heart beating
love’s tune every time our eyes meet
Touching, Holding Hands,
Kissing lips, Oh! such a heavenly special treat ~
Evening Moon lit nights with starry eyes
Peeping down upon us
Nestling together as just one

Rose
When night falls
And your petals close
And you sleep
Where do you go my Rose?
In the world of your dreams
The future?
The past?
Or your own personal
Alternate reality?
A better Earth
Than this one..
Where hatred
Poverty, War & Lies
No longer exist
And you can safely roam
In that utopian World
In your dreamtime
Then the Sun Shall rise again
And you open your petals with a yawn
To face another day
In this cold reality we share
But I will be waiting
As always my Love
With a smile and a coffee
And a kiss

Just an observation about love, physical reality and the personal utopian reality we all have a vision of in our heads...and how we can help each other face this hard cold reality if we support and love our partner- once we find them!

This was originally written as a song for a VERY special Irish lady, but I can't find a proviso for songs so it appears as a poem.It is in standard 8 beat time with a tempo of 82. Should anyone be interested I would be happy to supply chords to give an idea of the melody. I believe it is a hauntingly beautiful piece, but then I am biased being the author.Be Mine!
