Flirting

That I could feign to make a sportive play
Or when I think a girl could be serious
Perhaps coming after feelings of dismay
Or last girlfriend becoming deleterious
So we broke up, and do then as we may
Her subtle signs becoming more mysterious
You or I have now said something wrong
Romantic visions I now put into song.

Sweet girl, I'd gone and left you for another
Sometimes large waves can from a ripple build
Routine can sometimes a first passion smother
Fires in other hearts are quickly kindled
Just maybe the next girl will make me bolder
Sometimes it seems so strong is now her will
Love first love now before it slips away
Or last love now - and come whatever may.

And nothing scandalous if not salacious -
For sometimes we must make our feelings plain
A compromise is sometimes deemed most gracious
Or being left to stand there in the rain.
Within a generous heart, her love is spacious
I caught your look of passion on a train
And at the times we feel our most forlorn
Love will save us - if love we do not scorn.

What Makes a Woman Beautiful?

Beauty, its said
Comes from the soul
From within.

Those soul-mirrors
The eyes.

Her body may be old
The light of her beauty
Is in her eyes.

The curve of her lips
The dance
From within.

The flame of a passion
Long extinguished
From her youth
Still dances in her eyes.

Compassion
Acceptance
True beauty
From within.

High Above

High above - somewhere in the firmament
Before we're born it seems our die is cast
And destiny amid this life's entanglement
Shines softly forth - like moonlight on a path.

Our loves and lovers neither of us know
The folly of our youth - true heart's desire -
A chill in the soul - like winter snow -
Young passion burning with a quick hot fire.

Childhood lost too soon - the toll of years
And in a flash so much of life is gone
Trial and tribulation, laughter, tears -
Life's morning, afternoon and setting sun.

First love, last love - and all those in between -
Are strung across the far flung Milky Way.
They now return - to haunt me in my dreams -
Sweet mistress of the night a memory.

Food for Lovers

Love's food tonight? - the substance of your caress; -
If substance abuse, - then guilty - I confess!
Not much that I can say - so please take heed -
Your female essence - is the substance of my need.

I sometimes kiss when to a kiss responded
(Not that we much before long corresponded)
In the old days - when meeting at a pub
Then mutual trust was considered good enough.

What can I say? At twenty and at thirty
Natural introduction wasn't dirty.
A tavern with a few drinks was affection -
(This is true to the best of my recollection).

That is foreplay with alcohol I must say
Potent deceiver and giver of dismay; -
Although by chance on destiny's right path
A few drinks were considered good enough.

Not too much - and certainly - not too little
Girls want confidence - her man not belittle
At first herself, she wants confidence from him
And to know she's loved - and most of all by him.

The chaos and the turmoil of our world -
Where people sell for money their own soul; -
Though not for me approaches such as these
Tonight I'll give you girl your trembling knees.

A stranger's heart that sweetest mystery -
I'll spend my last dollar with you to be free; -
Your place or mine and not to be particular
Horizontal now in bed - not perpendicular.

Women know when they are loved its true -
I'm hard sometimes - though tender now with you.
Sweetest girl - I lap now all your honey; -
Affection's gift; - worth much more than money.

The honey of your love is sweet affection; -
Giving me esteem; - and self-direction.
And in the morning - if I have met your needs; -
I'll treasure that one night - in memories.

Residential School Fun

She saw me walk into a morning lecture
Though at the time I was so unaware.
(I didn't know how I did affect her
As I strolled in that day without a care).
Circumstances - so it seemed - now perfect were
(Like a rabbit in a trap she set a snare)
Then found me in the bar that afternoon
And made her feelings plain then in a swoon.

So who was I to resist unto now?
Some things are perfect - as you soon will see.
Events which I'm relating now (and how)
Extra curricular our activity.
This stories true - this I will avow
(And such it seems is my proclivity).
She introduced herself, her feelings plain
Said she wanted to f*ck me - her name? - Lorraine*

I asked what she was drinking, and she said:
"It's rum and coke, and double - if you please"
The look now in her eyes it spoke of bed
And set a fire in my heart with greatest ease.
The rings on her fingers showed she was wed
(This didn't stop her being such a tease).
My hand got busy under the table -
Soon we are both willing and quite able.

With a figure full - just about mid thirty
Strawberry blonde her hair to shoulder length.
We continued thus growing now more flirty
I felt a rush of blood in giddy strength.
Please don't condemn my poetry as dirty
(I must write on before my talents spent).
Before you say that I'm such a bad bloke
Just read the rest of this - my anecdote.

The University, it was at Wagga **
And students were from Australia wide.
She told me that her husband often flogged her
(I saw the hint of tears now in her eyes).
I have no guilt if so he did mistreat her
(She must have felt much safer by my side).
Bastards, there are with no respect for women -
As low as they come - and all too common.

What happened next there's no surprise for guessing
Her room was ten short minutes' walk away.
The story that I am now here confessing
Must happen to someone most ev'ry day.
Morality I am not here addressing
Will I repent? I must say now: no way!
She lead me to her room, took off her rings
And placed them by the bed with other things.

I can't respect a man who hurts a woman
The "man" who thinks it's his almighty right
To get drunken as a sot and become wanton
Then bring his strength unequal to the fight.
If she could leave him then I said she should then
(Though with me all she wanted was one night).
We interlaced our fingers now sans rings
She told me that she came from Alice Springs. **

Is this what they mean by s*xual healing?
When two souls get comfort in a troubled World.
It would happen less if men they had more feeling
Women are not chattels bought and sold.
These sad facts are those with which I'm dealing
(Her husband is most deserving to cuckold).
I sometimes think how unhappily she wed
To someone most unfit to share her bed.

My 100th Poem

My 100th poem - and my last billet doux,*
(And please don't take my writing for granted);-
There's more I could tell you - and some that is new;-
(Though lust over love has been oft been supplanted).
Where poesy (it seems) appeals to the few;-
(There's a lot to say about things that I once did);-
And never has there been a much truer word,
Than what I've writ now in front of the World.

Though how can I say it's my last billet doux;-
What hope have I got,- when such are my failings?
Thus under my pen, my verse blooms anew;-
To describe my young self in emotional railings.
Well it's true (as a young man) I did go askew,
And my life was far; - far from plain sailing;-
So then, please excuse this my biopic;-
In which I write on various topics.

So I find it can't be my last billet doux,
(Merely a break, or a quiet hiatus);-
Should I go and hide from the World, and it's view;-
Or write and describe some more of my coitus?
It's hard to believe it would cause much ado,
In this graphic life, where half the World hates us;-
When really I write of the "damage done";-
And the abuse that made me an "orphan."

It's not that I here write with self-pity,
It's more that I say here God "please explain"
Or maybe a tale of "sin and the city",
And human potential that's gone down the drain.
I write not to seem too clever, nor witty,
(In fact behind lies emotional pain)
Of a type that's quite hard to comprehend;-
So I think that it's Karma, and death's not the End.

So what must I do to repay the sins,
That were likely acquired in many past lives?
When life's credits roll up,- will it say "fin";-
Or at this juncture, does my energy survive?
Well, I must go on;- and to live is to win,
To spite them, and say:- "hey I'm still alive";-
And like the Phoenix, fly above the Narcissist,-
Who can't triumph, in all his cruel self-interest.

To a Troll

Take a hike you horrid troll
Go and dig yourself a hole.
You're no good to one and all
Not even to yourself withal.

You pour upon the World your spite
And when insulting finds delight.
You really are the foulest skunk -
Is it because your manhood's shrunk?

You must belittle all endeavor
Then you leave thinking you're clever.
I would not even p*ss on thee
You monster of inadequacy.

My Wandering Star

Once at Sixteen, I found a silver moon
Reflected at midnight upon a lake
Silver light and shadow through trees shone
The light upon each ripple shimmer made.
As if each ray could be a stepping stone
As if time now in eons did cascade -
And it is strange that I have come this far
What set this course for life my Wandering Star?

At that time I thought I saw a fancy
Or heard a ghost now shimmer through the trees -
Maybe bush spirits at midnight now were dancing
Or just a summer zephyr a warm breeze?
Something for this night was now romancing
That had so newly given my heart ease -
Something silver - peaceful - full moon beams
Caught and held my adolescent dreams.

I made my lover a bucolic charm
I kept that charm much closer to my heart
Words like a spell intended to disarm
That which spoke of poets and of art.
I look into the water now becalmed
All breeze is gone all ripples now depart -
Something sometime where we could not forsake
What started as a shadow on a lake.

So why now would I look on last night's gloom?
Tomorrow I would to you a red rose take
To light with all my light your empty room
And prove we could a lover's art retake.
There was a time, and that time came too soon
When love could no more make our two hearts quake; -
Something is now lost that was desired -
Why was this loss and heartbreak once prescribed?

For reasons we know not - nor meant to know
The Fates had put a fork into our road -
And now I've only poetry to grow
When I should have more affection showed.
It was those little things made our hearts glow -
Without them souls lie empty in abode;-
And it is strange that I have come this far -
What set this course for life my Wandering Star?

When I remember

When one heart calls to another
Everything else seems far away
Just like in a daydream
I remember your reflection

Just like another spring brings
Forth new growth
Just like another memory
Treasured, can be lost

Or just another haunted recollection?
When I see your smile
That warms my heart
All ice melts instantly.

Now You've Gone

I see someone like you
In sweeping summer rain
And nothing I could do
Would fix my heart again.

A stranger's eyes flash fire
Of lost romantic chance
The chaos of our lives
And broken circumstance.

I dream of you at night
Your spirit haunts my slumber
The ocean of your soul
Now holds and pulls me under.

Sometimes I wake up in the morning
And then reach out to touch your hair,
In the light of a new day dawning -
To find you've vanished into the air.
