On the 21st of December 2012 the world as we know it will come to an end. The sun will be eclipsed by all of the planets simultaneously and the gravitational pull on the sun will rip off a large chunk of flaming gas which will travel towards Earth as a solar flare of catastrophic proportions which has not been seen for 260,000 years. No one knows what the result will be, but only the well prepared will survive

A few things:

If the world comes to an end as in your description, what passes for the 'well prepared'? All I got is a backpack with freeze dried beef Stroganoff.

If the world comes to an end as in your description, would it not be possible to chart the planetary trajectories leading to the grand eclipse which result in a mass ejecta of sun? Would the gravitational force of the sun no counter the grand eclipse within the time frame of the event? All I got is a backpack with freeze dried Beef Stroganoff.

260,000 years ago is not that far off in earth's history. Is there some geological evidence that would substantiate the claim of mass ejecta from the sun destroying the earth? Consider that there is ample evidence that asteroid impacts are well documented and have done similar if not greater damage.

If no one knows what the result will be, how can anyone know the date?

If it will happen, it has happened and there is no free will.

A quasar within our own galaxy can do us pretty fast and, without warning. Happened before and, there's one going off n the observable universe every six minutes. All it takes is for the poles to be facing our way and we're out of business.

Then of course, a meteor or comet strike. Lots of those around who's orbits have never been mapped or, a reversal of the poles. The list goes on and on and on.

That said, the earth will always recover and breed new life from our remains so, you are correct.
