DaveD20: Do countries have the right to impose their points of view by force? - I think that is the question we are asking ourselves here.
I think you are right, that is the question.
The United States believes in a democracy. They tried to show China how much better it would be for their women to give them rights. We didn't force it, we didn't send our military, we didn't try to kill anyone in China to prove that democracy is a better way to lead a country. We discussed it.
My opthamologist prescribed marijuana for my glaucoma. Works great for it and also helps muscle issues, nervous problems, and diet restrictions as well. Yoe aunt's cat should will probably find it's better than cat nip.
TonyIsAChampion: I corrected that statement by changing the word freedom to right. "In other words I do not have the right to impose my beliefs on others by force."

Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Korea, Panama, Vietnam, Grenada, Nicaraqua, El Salvador - Will Ireland be next if we do something the US doesn't agree with - The US has being interfering with the domestic policy of countries for years. Funding rebels, friendly dictators all around the world. They have being using a lot more than words.

Only because we need their money and they would probably win a war. The same as we don't attack saudi arabia for their attitudes to women. We need their oil.

Well it looks like you want to change the thread to war when the subject is about the freedom to burn the flag.
I prefer to stick to what the OP wanted to discuss in any thread. Therefore I'll say adios until we meet again....

Speaking of marijuana...do you know what the original American flags were made out of?

That was probably more the irish american lobby than the state department, they wouldn't want to annoy the their good friends in london by supporting the IRA.

The first American Flags were made from Hemp. This is very important from a historical standpoint, in that no other other fiber was strong enough to withstand the saline air on naval ships, nor to weather the outdoors for a long period of time. It's also a bit of irony, given that the original fabric that was used for our beloved flag is currently illegal for farmers to grow.

Hi Bode
Indeed, when once it was a legal requirement for some farmers to grow hemp.

The constitution was written on it also...
Hi Monte...
So when Bobo made a comment about burning the flag...which is what this thread is about....and then Bode and I posted about old flags I got to thinking that if a very old American flag was set on fire now, would those nearby get a high from the fumes. Then I got to wondering how old the oldest flag is and found this website. I'll leave it to you if you want to scroll through what it says about the oldest flag..

The Irish flag is burned every year in the north of Ireland by the unionists/loyalists. Its very disrespectful but I don't expect any more from a bunch of haters.
there are some 400 different varieties of hemp and not everyone is rich in THC I have no idea why industrial hemp should be illegal when it`s been used in so many aspects

Well in that link the guy gives his opinion on why ... near the end
billyj1: Burning flags should be banned because it causes unnecessary pollution.
The U.S. Constitution reads that I have the right to burn Old Glory and it is not an act of treason. However, I would never burn my flag. Violent storms tear the flag and when it becomes unsiteful with tears we know that we should take it to one of the places that will destroy it the proper way. The Boy Scouts of America, an American Legion Post or a Veteran of Foreign Wars Post will burn it without any repurcussions. It is a formal procedure and people that respect the red, white and blue abide by it without worrying that they are commiting treason..
