To respond to the highlighted part in your post, how did he come to be a member of the royal family? Oh yeah, he was the one who was deliberately conceived to be the "spare one" in case anything happened to William, who was deliberately conceived to be the right and proper heir to the throne. What choice has Harry had to be born into the life that he has? I believe he has no more choice than he did when he was forced to go out as a little boy and be jolly with the public a few hours after he found out his mummy was dead.

As for the Army, I got the impression the fella had a bit of death-wish going on for a while. Or maybe he just wanted to be like everyone else and he didn't even get afforded that respect there.

If someone under those circumstances feels the need to run round naked from time to time, its a pretty harmless release.

However Prince Charles is said to be livid.

I was under the impression that is why Charles married Diana. He certainly could marry Camilla at that time. What if the babies were girls? Would they still be the next in line when Charles dies?

I never thought Harry had a death wish. In fact, as with most people, there are two, three or maybe 26 sides to someone. I think his outward coat is to be as much of a normal person as possible and that's why he had a fun time in Vegas and I don't blame him one bit.

I don't know if it was mandatory or expectoed of him to join the military but I'd rather give that credit to Diana who raised her sons with morals and compassion. William has a job of importance as a helicopter pilot in a resuce squad (I didn't say that correctly) and I think I saw something recently where he saved someone from drowning.

Harry and William are good men. They were raised by a good woman under very tough scrutiny of the royal family.

When George Bush was in the white house, his twin daughters were found drunk as a lord one night. It was an embarrassment but I don't think anybody said they were bad women. It's a part of growing up. It's just that that part should be out of the medias camera.

It is very wrong to post this in the "polls" it should have been better in the picture threads, perhaps.

Yes, Charles married Diana because they needed a virgin of the right pedigree to breed from. He couldn't marry Camila because she was a divorcee.

It was evident from the press coverage of the official announcement of their engagement that some jiggery pokery was going on as when a reporter asked them if they were in love, Diana breathed "Oh yes!" like all her birthdays and Christmases had come at once and Charles said "That depends on what you mean by love", or something to that effect. Diana's face dropped like a ton of bricks and he basically publicly humiliated her being unable to lie about how he felt about her. He was in love with Camila and its thought spent the night before the wedding day with Camila.

If Diana had given birth to girls, yes they would have been heirs to the throne, but would have been superceded by any boys born later. The fact that she had two boys meant that she was dispensible. Had she had girls first, she might have been used for further breeding purposes. Diana in her youth was ignorant of all the shenanigans until it was too late. She didn't realise Camila was on the scene until after she was duped into marrying Charles.

All royal offspring are expected to join the services, the airforce having the most kudos. They are not expected to be active in service, however. Harry wanted to fulfill active service in the East, but wasn't allowed partly because you can't risk the life of the second in line to the throne, partly because he would have been a target - being a target endangered the lives of those around him, which I seem to remmber was the argument that persuaded him to discontinue his fight for active service. In that sense, the military service is merely a gesture, rather than useful employment.

I can't remember all the details of various stages that Harry went through on reaching adulthood, other than the scandal about him going to a drying out clinic for cocaine misuse and his determination to be on the frontline in war, but I got the overall impression, there was someone who didn't care much for his own physical well-being and had some serious emotional issues to sort out in the wake of his mother's death and the expectations upon him to carry out his duty to the public even though he was only a small boy at the time.

If, to gain a small amount of freedom over his own life he runs around naked, I think that's a pretty healthy and harmless coping strategy under the circumstances.

There should be more folk like Harry. He's a fine lad obviously with his mother's charisma. Remember the effort he went to to try to serve in the British Army besides his buddies in Iraq despite being labeled a target. I seem to remember George W. doing the opposite.

I think he's an over-rated bloke bred from a needless royal family that uses its SUBJECTS to live in inexcusable privilege and honor. Simply put, useless.

I think the whole expensive institution played out it's role by now.

Elisabeth was(is) the last royal there imo.

If thay can't pretend to be more than the rest of us then shut it down.
