Naive? I would not say that. Just different than me. I am not fond of wearing a burka, converting to Islam and being treated less than a dog. As you said let them all blow each other up but that does not always happen. They join forces and grow bigger then they go knock on other doors.

Ccincy.. The US is the sole "Super Power" in the world. It does have an obligation to help maintain peace and stability around the world. There are a few people here calling for isolationism , however, that's where the US was before Japan bombed Pearl Harbor.

Iraq a good example , they did not want a US base on their soil , because Iran said so . A year or so later they are screaming out for help , not help that Iran can give or would want to give either . Uhm, Almost ALL countries make weapons, even Germany. The "weapons lobby" can't sell anything overseas without the express consent of the government. Countries also use weapons for DEFENSE.
