I love it when a man plays with my.................hair.
However, I don't wear wigs/hairpieces/extensions or alot of hairspray. Keep in mind that there are types of women who do use hairpieces and extensions, and for those reasons won't allow their hair to be messed with. And what if a woman has locks? or french braids? you really can't run your fingers through their hair in the way that you would wish (unless the braids were undone)
So it depends on the ethnicity of the woman, and what she does with her hair. And women with hair loss will usually wear a wig or a scarf. Then there's the women who prefer to have short short hair...

Ken_19: I run into a lot of those who during quiet moments alone when I wish to stroke their hair get all upset. Too much money at the beauty parlor they often claim. I think they forget why they had it made up, to look attractive for their guy, nu? Besides, sometimes whose money paid for that? If it was your money, isn't it your say how long it should last?
regardless of who pays for a hair appointment, no one should be touched in any manner without consent, and a woman's hair is HER hair, end of story. Back off lest you seem stalkerish assault style

Perhaps her scalp was sore (from the treatment or other reasons)...or maybe it took a lot of work to get to look that way and "mussing it up" will take her back to square one.
It would really depend on the situation. If she just plain didn't want to be touched, or there were legitimate reasons behind her not wanting it.
I also agree your post sounded a little bit like ownership (if you had paid for her hair to be done). It's still her hair, it was only re-arranged, lol.

That's a good point, catlan. That's definitely another thing it "might" be. “Does she…or doesn’t she?” According to Clairol, only her hairdresser knows for sure.
Pisam: Depends on which hair you are talking about...hair on the head I can live without messing with....down below is a different matter altogether!!!
